  1. Thank you for your minds folks.

Interesting point of the walking beams for a mixer, it makes sence.

I spoke with other guys here and we resolved the truck probably was a chassis with some drilling equipment for oli fields wich are plenty of in that area.

On my mind it would be funny (and easy) to put just a fifth wheel on the end of that long frame or vice versa to split it if the frame has damages (looks like it has) and get an extremely short all wheel drive tracktor.

On the other note here's a big difficulty with chick magneting. Moscow govnt limited access of vehicles more than 12 tons GVW into the city at a day time.

Maybe one more reason for trips to Saint-Petersburg. A lot of to magnet there :WELCOME:

  2. Yes, for me.

Ken, thank you for the asking.

There's the export facility in Secaucus NJ wich helps me for overseas shipping.

They're quite close to Newark airport and to NYC.

    Work during a working time.

If anyone is going to the show from that area some help would be good.

Just if it's really close to you and wouldn't cost much trouble.

  3. well its what we call a cool power Mack here in Australia looks like a five or six speed trans to me and is that a front diff I see and would that be a 38000 lbs ass end ? looks that way to me but not on camel back dont know what the back suspension is ????????????

I bet you can feel a road trip coming on Vlad

    Paul

Vehicle's chassis components keep some mistery about their weight ratings on my mind.

That bogie American guys call (called when I was in America at least) a walking beam suspension.

It doesn't have any springs excepting tires itself. The only reason I see is an ultimate weight capacity.

The axles of the vehicle don't seem extremely heavy but more strange there's the single frame.

Much more strange that frame is 10.5 meters long. About 35 feet.

If I ever get that baby I will put a Camelback in it. By a chance I have one off 1945 army Mack. But that's a long story.

I feel a road trip in the nearest future indeed. But that's another one. To Europe.

So I'm gonna crazy. No matter having one more Mack or having not.

an i think i'm short on time to make a 300 mi, trip to pick up a truck on good roads, ha!

There are not many Macks in this country so picking one up is not a common thing.

  4. Damn shame they left the spare engines out like that...Truck looks decent, pretty cool DMM!Hope you get it

They were going to scrap the truck and all those engines also.

They will if I don't pre-pay it in days. The truck looks like wasn't killed much before broke down.

Kickstand. I don't see the KICKSTAND!!!!??????

The left hand tank is stollen. So the truck keeps balance.

Chain the front Axle up lock in the diff should go if you can get it running

Don't forget there's front wheel drive so it can run just with no rears at all.

But the tank is lost and probably many others.

Guys were thinking on chaining up the axle and tow it by 6x6 KrAZ over those unpaved 300 km than put on a common rig.

I still hope to not go there myself. No straight flights there, train goes 36 hours. Or about 3 days with a car/truck.

It would be nice a trip for shure, an adventure, but I feel hard shortage of time.

  5. Vlad looks like you need to build a tow boom to put on the R and then go on a road trip!

That's cool idea if I only can build it myself. Towing equipment is too pricy overhere.

Looks like a early 300 hp or possible a 350 in that dmm...The engine laying on its side withthetransmission connected looks like it's of the same engine family 285,300 etc.....

I can't clearly see the transmission sticker but it looks like a air shift 6 speed ?

Do you mean it looks like E6 2V under the hood?

I also couldn't see well the sticker but it looks more as T2060 6 speed transmission.

The chassis shot shows its back and it seems as T200 to me.

Any ideas on that scrap gear box?

  6. I sure like the picture of the village on the other side of the lake. Nice!

The sign at the McDonald's is spelled wrong...

    Jim,

The village on the isle in the lake is the monastery.

And the sign at the McDonald's... Once some years back city govnt issued the law that every brand name written on a building outside must be written or doubled in Russian. Sometimes it looked funny but it happened more than 10 years back and we used to.

  7. Vlad: thanks for the photos!, I found the road construction interesting the red and white (jersey barrier) blocks looks like what we would use to close a shoulder but we could never run opposed traffic without candlesticks (plastic tubes held in place by a rubber plate) between the lanes or barrels ( big orange garbage can sized containers held in place with 11-24.5 tire sidewalls) or at the very least orange cones but only during day light hours. With that said I would guess it don't cost over a million dollars to build a mile of road in Russia.

You noted it right. Actually that part of the highway was two laned just about 5 years back. Last time there were 3 lanes combining 2 one direction with 1 opposit than in 1 km vice versa. They finally started road construction to make it wider. The pavement was and still is like after some bombing for about 20 km long. All the highway is a real shame. It connects two main cities, Moscow and Saint Petersburg. No less than 1/3 of it is 3 laned and there are so many villages and little cities along it (with limitation of 60km/h) so you have no chances to keep their count. By the word if you go that construction part of the road in the night you wouldn't see not only candle sticks but just any lights at any points. And maybe neither lines on the asphalt.

And a good point - a kilometer of the road in Russia cost about 10 millions Euro. Twice expensive than in Germany. Who may tell why?

  8. Beautiul photos of Russia. Can I get just one of the T-34's?? Paul

Yes Paul, no problems. I'll make a trip to Kubinka tomorrow and talk it out for you

I'm afraid Paul it would be too difficult. A couple of months back some one came to me and said he bought big land in 400 km from Moscow and started collecting army vehicles. He had two tanks. On my surprized question he answered he could have them demilitarized but registred museum officially for that purpose. I'm going to visit him in the summer. Will let you know.

That green 6 wheeler must have been a SGT Truck. Joe D.

Joe, I really had no idea there were so many SGT trucks overhere

Thank you for the pictures.. It is great to be able to see your countryside and villages from a personal perspective rather than a tourist info site.

Questions: In the last picture of your first post, Is that large beast a rocket launcher?? and the ZIL dump truck,Does it have a 1956 Ford cab??

    Thanks again

    Brocky

Brocky, you're right. The large beast was a ballistic rocket unit "Topol". It was designed to cruising in the woods over great territories being no need of any support or supply. A kind of athomic submarine but on the land. ZIL truck had his original cab, came into production about 1964 if the memory served me good. As of the design of that cab you can see the tendence of where its lines came from. The former owner of my R-model joked once that a R-model came into production later and Americans "stoll' ZIL's design. It was funny to hear to me.

As Ray noted Russia has a great history. To my big sorry its technical and industrial history isn't so great. And it's also sad that it was very poor saved.

  10. Vlad

I am sure there is a way you could join us.. The Tony Champion private Mack collection is one of the stops on the tour. see link below in a post to Paul that shows the schedule.

The contact is: Stefanie Anton email santon@cruiseplanners.com I am sure she can come up with a way for you to fly from Moscow instead Los Angles.

    Brocky,

    That's a pretty good idea.

I shure had a dream to discower the green continent once but haven't ever put it on the calendar.

Macks and Mack people is the most beautiful reason to arrange such a trip.

August 2015 is not the day after tomorrow so I have enough time to think about.

    Many thanks for the invitation.

    Vlad
