  1. Is there any way to know how many shims were installed at the factory on a truck? This truck was takin apart and all the stuff was just thrown in a box and handed to us to put together.

The truck may never pull a load again but on the other hand the shims may contribute to the truck dog tracking and the way it drives.

I ve never had this problem before since I always put them back together the same way it comes apart.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

  2. Damn ridiculous! I also grew up on a farm, and let me tell you, when it was peach shipping season we sometimes worked 24 hours a day! peaches have a real limited shelf life, and when they gotta go they gotta go! every delay was money out of our pockets! same with apples, just not as tight a schedule to keep. Many is the day I would load a truck BEFORE going to school, come home, load another one, deliver it,come home and load ANOTHER one before bedtime,do the same thing 6 sometimes 7 days a week! My Grand dad was not real big on being told what to do by anyone, especially the govvmint! hard ass work with little to no reward as it is (farming) but maybe the "gimmies" will think twice when there is no more food! oh,nevermind,we'll just BUY it from somewhere else I guess? (oh I forgot, theres no more money either) Big Daddy Obama Bin Laden sure has a plan don't he?.........................running the country into the ground!..........................Mark

    Well said mark!

  3. I back them off a half. Letting the s cam move a hair more keeping the off of the cam between brake jobs. I notice less flat spotting and less chance if the 20 idiot drivers stabbing the brakes and hanging and dragging.

I think that little more movement helps in cold weather cause the cam is cleaner for more rolling movement when the try freeze down.

I've seen times where tipping the s cam releases the froze down brakes. Just .02
