Hi Vlad,iv been reading your adventures in search of Mack trucks.they are very interesting.you should write a book.im sure it would sell very well.thanks for shareing them with us.you tell a very different story about the countrys you visit than the stories the media tells us.it is great to get the other side of it from someone like you. We have got some parts from the guy in the Netherlands,a turbo and some service parts.what parts do you have?when is the Mack day happening?we might make it over to that depending on work.the Cruiseliners in the pictures are real nice.have you any history on them?we would like to talk to other Mack owners.   7. Hi all,asking questions agsin as we try to get to know our Cruiseline inside out.The trunnion bearing in the Camelback suspension is it oil or grease lube? The reason i ask is theres one grease point at the rear of the trunnion tower and what appears to be an oil plug on the bearing cap(see pic).i understand the weight has to be off the bearing to lube it.any infomation would be great.thanks.   8. Did the austrailian and new zealand Cruiseliner and superliner have rectangular headlights? My 82 Cruiseliner has axel mounted steering box and round headlights in round bezels.
  9. Yeah im gonna do a valve set.iv ordered valve cover gaskets.its a weight off the mind especially when trying to do this truck on a limited budget...we will get there..... Paul

Hi all,well i started the Cruiseliner.she started instantly as she always did and ticked over nice and smooth.i let her tick over for a while.there wad no excessive smoke and no rattleing or other odd noises.when i gave the throtle a push she reved up nicely.i thought that maybe no.3 cylinder was a little smokier than the others on rev up but cleared very quickly.im a much happier man now!!! Cant thank you all enough for your support.the piece of metal must have been left behind by someone else.love to know where it came from but i doubt ill ever find out... Paul

Hi all,some really bad news for our Cruiseliner.i took the metal object to a metal recycleing center who tested it to see what it actualy made of.they said its chrome steel.so now im thinking valve,valve seat or cylinder liner.only things i can think of made of that type of steel.im going to do a cylinder leak down test as im afraid to even turn the engine over let alone start it.we bore scoped the heads manifold and exhaust turbine houseing and cant see anything chiped, broken or missing.any of you out there that have any idea of where chrome steel could come from?id be very interested. Cool truck Jason,we bought a Cruiseliner a few weeks ago and couldnt get the cab to jack up.it turned out to be the hydraulic cab lock seals at the back of the cab.the seals were gone and the system would not build enough pressure to release the locks and let the cab raise.dont know if the MH has the same set up but that was our experence.the truck looks really great. Hi all,well my son and i spent a few hours going over the exhaust ports and manifold with a bore scope and we could not see anything cracked chiped or broken.where ever this piece of iron came from we cant say.im going to bring the scope out to the turbo guy and look at the exhaust turbine houseing.its all we can think of next to look at.the oil feed pipe is UNF thread and we're in metric land so we are looking for a fitting to block it so we can start the engine.thats where we are now.thanks for your intetest guys. I will do that joey.i think it would be worth it too.i want to be sure its in top condition before putting a new turbo on it.its a bit of a set back to the plans for painting it as the cost of the turbo has to come out of the budget for paint.but we will get there just take a bit longer.....thanks for all the help. Hi all,yes the piece is magnetic,its cast iron as far as we can tell.i wonder if its off the exhaust turbine housing itself.it appears to have two vains around it which the exhaust travels before being fed onto the turbine.we cant see into it and we dont think the scope will fit in when we get it.i wiil see if i can block the oil feed and run the motor.see what it sounds like... thanks guys. Hi all,so we stripped the manifold off and can find nothing broken chiped or missing in the exhaust ports valves move smoothly when turning engine by hand.also cant see anything wrong with the manifold.we couldnt get the bore scope today but will have it tomorrow.we used a mirrow and light today and so far nothing.the scope will tell the full story.off to work now ohbthe joys..... Paul

Thanks joey i will check all that out.yeah it was 1.30am when i put up the last post.its now 9am here in ireland.i cant thank you enough for the support.having never worked on Macks before its great to be able to talk to those who have.every make of motor has their own quirks that are learned with experence...   23. Hope your right joey.the guy said it was covered in soot so has been in there for a bit.not sure on the diameter on the inside.really hope the engine is ok🙏ill try get more pictures.thanks. Paul
  24. Iv been driving trains for 22 years now.the locomotives we have are all GMs.12V 645 AND 12V710. Diesel electrics.weigh 130 tons.i like the job but would rather be trucking.trouble is the railway pays a hell of a lot more than trucking and thanks to the train driving i could afford to buy the Cruiseliner.now im getting the best of both worlds. Hi all,the turbo guy came back to me with really bad news...the turbo is toast.he found a foreign object stuck in the exhaust turbine which came from inside the engine.its cast iron and shattered the turbine wheel.it seems to be to big to have passed through an exhaust valve so we are hopeing its from the exhaust manifold.we are going to strip it on saturday and do a cylinder leak test...wish us luck.anyone see anything like this before? Paul
