  1. My plate is unreadable, so I can't tell if it's been upgraded. I know for a fact Q.C. (the fleet of trucks on vin run) would not upgrade later. On the sheet only 1, was done at factory, ending with 139650. Can anyone plug into ECU and find out what's going on with this engine? Also, could anybody here produce a spec. sheet for me, of what the plate Should read? for a 355/380? or 400? both?? Thanks
  2. I have the so called Maintenance-Free setup. My model is CH613. I do have the 3 spring axle. I think I will be going to the Donvel air ride setup. I spoke with the owner inventor of his product and offers an in writing, if we do not put a smile on your face in a few miles send it back for a full refund. The whole conversion weights about 35#'s. I really do not know, the search continues. With the roads in Baltimore I need to find a Hoover Craft steer axle conversion.
  3. Unfortunately my engine plate looks like it had 4 years of road salt spray on it from CT. before I got it.
  4. Sorry I did not meet you at Litiz Pa. for the Mack show. It was a good one. Enjoyed watching the old Bucket crain work.
  5. Thanks Barry, went back to Mack for things, one of the parts guys ran my serial range, only one in my range had a 355/380 conversion to E7 400. And it was NOT mine. Anyway this is it. 1M1AA13Y91W 139664 He used MackNet Part Locator Search VRI Screen, it shows Rockwell trans. and rears. I know I have Meritor trans. and I thought rears also. What can you find? When you have time of course. Thanks Again, Doug
  6. Thanks everyone for replies. I had to wait awhile to fix had wrist surgery, any how. I thought if I could push primer in while engine was running it had to have low pressure. I installed new supply pump and runs much better now, no blue smoke puffs. Still was a very slight miss. Also I can not push primer in while running. Thanks again.
  7. I already asked what the turn around for rebuild. They said keep your old shocks for the rebuild, and should be a 1 1/2-2 week turn around. Sooner if you pay for 2nd day air both ways, then for sure a week. I know the 2 monroe shocks for steer cost the same as buying 4 rear OEM shocks. I'm on my second pair of Monroes to 4drive shocks. 2nd pair were a warranty claim, but that was like pulling teeth from Monroe. They only want there dealer network to install them. What b/s, 2 bolts???
  8. Plate is unreadable tried cleaning it. Must have had some kind of chemical on it. My build sheet that I remember, said it was a 355/380, but when I give last six of numbers to Mack for injectors it cross referenced to a 400HP engine injector number.
  9. It is just a fact of life that shocks don't last very long. I am in the habit of replacing shocks whenever I put on new tires. That is why I was asking about Road King shocks. I only know of 1 driver with them. He loves them, but never hauls alot of weight. (20k-30k net.)
  10. That's true. Does anyone know if a composite mono leaf spring is made for the steer?
  11. If I post my VIN# can someone tell what HP engine I have? Do you need them whole # or just the last six? Thanks, Doug
  12. Yes the ride goes away over time. Monroe gas shocks bring it back but don't last long. I'm looking to improve the ride over Monroe or factory shocks. Guess I need to test drive a truck with air ride steer axle.
  13. Ok then hook a fellow Mack owner UP,?, I'll buy 3 pair. Can you do that????
  14. Guess I'm asking for an more informed answer.
  15. Please help and use your, and our past knowledge on improvements. Thanks Doug.. Here is my problem.. I have an 01' CH613 day cab and yank a tanker around. I'm looking to improve my steer axle ride, I've looked at Road King shocks, to replace my Monroe Gas. Monroe work fine but really fade quick and blow out.(warrenty is false @ Monroe) OK, help me put your on common sense idea's on this. Donvel steer air conversion. http://www.donvel.com/steeraxle.htm The option is around $1200 with my shocks(250-300), with infinite setting with guage. Or should just buy Road King shocks @ $600 a pair. I'm looking for long term affects for ride. Now I please ask from us older,(BMT forum) guys in trucking. We never had these option's with our trucks, in the past. OK, this is it, buy Donvel and Monroe gas Shocks, OR buy Road King High dollar shocks(knowing rebuilable.) PRICE IS A FACTOR, but in the long term is WHAT I want, what way would you go? Now with this info given, what would you do and Why? I know coming here has to be right, for Common sense reply's, right? You own a Mack, LOL. Please give my you .02-10k cents. Thanks Doug 443-871-6907 for this or better idea.

  18. To make a real long story short.. Came back to Mack with a loaded non baffled tanker. Took the service manager out for a ride (no air ride seat). Now he's shacking already as the load smacks around then watching him hanging on for dear life as it shook he cut the bill real good. I almost said keep it, I hadn't laughed that hard in years.
  19. Has anyone used these on the front? Monroe gas are ok, but do not last long. If you have, are they worth the price? Thanks in advance for reply. Doug
  20. I had an '01 Vision in the shop for some electronic problems once. I got the truck back within in a few miles loaded started to shake at 56-59. It only shook only while loaded also. Mack had it for a month swapping parts, only to find ride height out. Did not make sense that it went out, while in the shop for unrelated problems. To this day it still rides nice now according to new owner. Hope this helps and you get it fixed.
  21. I'll check that out next week. Also it's fine in the morning before at temp. The hotter the outside temp is, the more it misses. Put foot to floor flattens right out.?.? If I stay above 1000rpm all is fine.
  22. Thanks in advance for your help. My engine is missing off idle,(like loading up)and puffs blue every now and then. My mpg is the same and power is still there. It does not throw any fault codes as of yet. I have 400k on the engine now, where is the first place you would check? Thanks, Doug
  23. Can I replace this with my air tools? Or do I drop the shaft and bearing to have replaced or rebuilt? 2001 ch Meritor w/40000 rears. Thanks agian for your help, Doug
  24. Well did mine after first day of post using all the info given. Wheel is still on. Mine had an outer nut, lock ring with tabs, spacer with holes and inner nut with a nipple for spacer. Thanks for all the help. Would have replied sooner but needed to work. Thanks agian BMT forum
