  1. hope the stocking of parts includes transmissions; I only have two quad boxes left .
  2. A R-700 can be built with todays models; take two R -600 kits and stretch the nose and frame. there is a superliner kit out there believe it is 1/32 scale. I have an R-700 actual hood (1/25th) scale in resin that has been waiting 40 + yrs to be built. engine (300+) for george stone constructions R -600 came from A I M ;jim etter many yrs ago. almost impossible to find anyone doing resin kits/parts . its all that computer built stuff. would be a major welcome for AMT to build "out of the norm stuff" for the truck builders. hopefully AMT stays with the "legend" built like a Mack. rails on the R's seem smaller and thinner.
  3. MAN HAVE YOU GOT MY VOTE ;;;YES. since the passing of Jim Etter (AIM ) yrs ago and now the sad passing of Dave Natale (A IT M) , no models resin or other to be found. sad to say the last few AMT models bought were very discouraging. I'm running out of B- LTL model parts.
  4. went by a class 8 flat deck picking up a car on rte 6 today ; was going to stop and check to see same as the B73. busy road couldn't safely stop. haven't seen a set up with rear "landing gear" for deck raise / lower.
  5. every thing looking excellent. have to admit , I'm confused with operation. earlier picture showed long slide piston having pivot on rear frame. which i would expect the piston stayed with truck frame. these pictures with body down on ground show no piston. of my many questions asked, you stated the rear guides are two inside and two outside;; where did the second frame rails disappear toooo????LOL . darn nice job. top deck boards will be flush mounted to outer rails ;;not having side rail lip >?? winch being mounted on front of bed topside or under mount??
  6. remember the steel fuel return lines and solid top caps . before the days of top mounted return lines; can't remember what vehicle engine was in during disassembly.
  7. Buda its not . the buda was an option back early '40's ; the 468 cu in model 6DT was offered in the conventional cab FP as an option. the blue paint is a give away.

THANK YOU for all the pictures Jojo. it's a total disappointment to me not making the trip. for someone who rarely gets sick , this time around It has whipped my ass. possible the covid crap. wife sick again and as usual it's my fault. she is on her way to walk in clinic. making the trip to NC would have been a win-win for me. see the show/ meet the BMT crew then go to Raliegh to spend time with my sister. possibly another time.
  9. memory serves correctly when timing was done by flywheel timing it was for injection pump timing / valves. front damper didn't have marks =no need for off set bolt pattern ( or i never paid attention), then more attention was put to not smashing a finger or two putting damper on. timing went to front damper then bolt pattern offset.
  10. never let mechanics stump you ; got think a little bit more outta the box at times to over come the challenges thrown at you. after all said and done the overwhelming sense of good feeling is great; you may find your self looking at what ever was challenging and say to it "got U ya SOB" LOL now done tell me all you out there laughing I'm the olny one who has ever had "discussions with mechanical parts🤣🤣

  12. one of many untold stories of real Heros. kept my total interest while watching the movie of The Dam Busters. sad unfortunate situation as war is; the technology developed and engineering used was amazing. unlike todays world where computers are used . THANK YOU for revisiting an important part of forgotten history. Also lest we not forget 9/15/23 (Friday) is POW /MIA Recognition Day (in US). everyday is veteran recognition day in my book.
  13. that's where the phrase "a diamond in the ruff" came from. need a perfect example of the phrase check the B73 L cab of Matt's; ruff to nicest "diamond " ever.
  14. excellent . getting a better understanding of operation; thank you for updated pictures. if correct, the bed rails go outside of the four brackets =two on pivot of truck and two on the frame extension. dropping the rear stabilizer then extending the bed as the stabilizer is raised , it more a gravity tipping the bed not a two way piston pulling the bed up? short version ;LOL that is one long slide piston. noticed the "custom" exhaust pipe flapper keeping rain out. 5in exhaust has an adapter bring pipe to 6in ?
  15. years back in CT , waterbury sand and gravel had a fleet of C- models hauling dump trailers. they were across street from Waterbury Mack. watched them go by all day. sharp looking unit then and now. "older cousin " of the DM-600. C' were another style which were impressive looking no matter configuration used for ;;; mixer/ flatbed/ etc.
  16. everything looking great, definitely looking forward to day of seeing it complete and operational . have to admit I'm confused as to how it works. understand long piston for body slide. two rear pistons lower 1- for stability ;2- raise the body. assembly has 4 pivot points (2 per side) . could understand if had two fixed positions to work off of. have to wait for the day to see it work . can use the excuse of not understanding operation due to fact I 've been sick as a S O B last few days . covid/ flu some bull s--t , no sleep or food. body going to be red or black ??
  17. red 800 a thing of beauty yet I keep glancing up at the two towers .difficult to forget nor do I want to forget 9-11. I was waiting at the house that morning getting ready to go to work and head to NY for a day of deliveries.

  20. If the B73 has a 249 WB mounting a 24ft body , isn't there going to be excessive overhang? 249= 20ft +- ; axle to back of cab ? (5-6 ft ) body hinge mounted close to rear axle ; jerr dann has 6in side rails ? :3 1/2 new crossmembers ? sitting on 2= 6 in subframes ?guessing based on excellent pictures posted.
  21. years back one of my customer/ part-time jobs had a B61SX which had cracked trunnions, they had a professional welder come in and make repair the right way. he cut a massive gouge in trunnion and with stick rod rewelded back to new condition. todays world everything wire feed welders . the prep is the important part. if BOTH sides are cracked ,you are in different position. $$$ and time wise a set of cut off replacements might be the way to go. with all the cracks , has this unit been over worked? or abused !

  23. dry air cleaner / pintle hook front bumper for pushing / guess to be 24" rubber. high horse power ,don't recognize paint scheme . big boy on hood. real nice
  24. Plunske going to make another wrecker or just towing for someone? 800 make a fine wrecker , little chassis stretch or keep as HD recovery tractor . have to look at map; drawing a blank with the location= 22 east/west
