  1. Correct, I emailed Hank at the first sign of trouble and to date, I have received no reply. I don't want a feud between websites I just want them to understand that we are not a pay site, we don't make money from the forums and their photos are just being posted under the fair use clause of the US copyright laws for comment purposes. I see no harm in the way we use their photos or any other downloaded photo from the new. BMT is dedicated to supporting the antique and classic truck hobby as well as peer to peer support for Mack Trucks of all ages...this is purely non-commercial as far as BMT is concerned. I can't even register on Hank's forums as new member registration seems to be disabled. Oh well look on the bright side...our BMT Gallery is HUGE! We have almost 11,000 photos hosted and over 4 Million views! I also just made a few setting tweaks to make the gallery easier to use!
  2. Yeah, don't feed the trolls...I have added him the coveted BAN list! LOL! Sorry about that guys, the bottom feeders do manage to sneak in from time to time.
  3. Yeah, still no response from Hank Suderman...I like how they say to ask permission but then no one ever replies! How convenient!
  4. Haha, you are correct! Our t-shirt artist drew that image from one of your photos! I'm probably in trouble with the artist for using the image also! LOL! Just can't win!
  5. Good post! This is exactly what keeps us safe from 99% of copyright issues! I'm no expert but this clearly defines BMT's usage of most images on the web.
  6. No problem Mark! You didn't do anything that any of us wouldn't have done ourselves! I know there is merit to some of this copyright stuff but the fact is that if someone doesn't want there photos shared and enjoyed then they shouldn't post them on the internet. Asking permission is fine and encouraged but can you imagine if we have all asked permission every time we re-posted an image from some where? My ISP would crash! LOL...and even then, you would be lucky to get 2-3 response from every 10 requests and maybe less responses giving permission. It's just not feasible...I still support the notion of not posting if you are paranoid about re-posts of your images! It's that simple. My beef is with these so-called enthusiasts that don't play well with the rest of us! Copyright laws are what they are but it's these types of self centered people that get me fired up! Don't worry, I have other ways to battle turkeys like Sissick and Faust and the rest of the photo posting picture whores out there! There are a few forum settings I can tweak to make us a little more private here! Here is the final reply from Faust...as you can see, he is talking in circles now. My debate is done with him! I'm sure they are reading this thread...so feel free to continue telling them how you feel about their support for the real truck enthusiasts!
  7. Here is my response to Mr. Faust's last email...even though I will never win an argument with a fellow like this, it is just too much fun to try!
  8. Here is the response from Mr. Faust... You can't argue with these people...they just don't get it. They accuse us of being selfish and greedy but read the above text! Keep your pictures, Mr. Faust...there are plenty of highway photographers that love to share their work!
  9. Same here...I have posted hundreds of nice photos from various truck shows and never once complained about people linking to them! I am actually honored when someone reposts my photos! Thanks guys, I will never roll over on any forum issues without a fight! I'm sure Volvo, Mack and the ATHS already know that! LOL!
  10. That's exactly what I did, Larry! We'll see what he has to say about that request! I even offered a Hank's banner as exchange for becoming share partners with us. But we shall see!
  11. I don't see any reason to boycott Hanks since these emails are coming from his contributors and I haven't had an official response from Hank him self yet. I'll post his response when I get it. Hanks Truck Pictures is a good site with a lot of pictorial information. The contributors just seem to be a little uptight!
  12. I know! You guys are great...one of the best groups of truck fans that I know of! Don't let these guys get to you. There is always people out there with big city egos that want to show there cocks off! The real truck hobby is sharing and enjoying each others photos and that is what BMT is all about! On that note, I also just got an email from another Hank's contributor and he is a little more out spoken that Mr. Sissick This was my reply to Mr. Faust's email... Again, I understand the whole copyright thing but seriously...we aren't making advertisements, reselling prints or anything like that! It is a group truck hobbyists sharing and enjoying truck photographs! I don't make it a habit of posting emails and such, but this is a very public matter and you guys deserve to know what other people in the truck hobby are thinking and saying.
  13. Here is Chris's reply... I was hoping he would be more understanding and open for debate but it looks like a closed case! LOL. I'll remove the pic but I have also contacted Hank's about the copyright and to see if we can use his stuff in a limited manner under the fair use act or maybe even in exchange for an ad banner? I am awaiting response from Hank's. In the mean time, feel free to request permission from any of Hank's photographers before you post. They say that they are pretty flexible so I am curious to see how that goes!
  14. Hey guys, I just wanted to let you know that Chris Sissick contacted me over the use of one of his Mack Truck photos in this post: http://www.bigmacktrucks.com/index.php?/topic/29202-jersey-macks/?p=161183 Here is the original message that I received on Feb 4, 2013: He was polite and simply requested removal as per Hanks Truck Pictures Copyrighting so I replied with the following statement: As I mentioned in the reply, I will remove his image as requested or until I receive a reply of agreement with him or Hanks. Also, until any agreements are made, consider this post a heads up to how Mr. Sissick and Hanks Truck Pictures prefer to treat a non profit website, and it's valued members, that promote antique truck history! I have never once gone after anyone linking photos from our photo galleries and I don't intend on ever doing so unless someone is using images for profit. Then I agree that it is wrong.
  15. Does anyone have a decent copy of the Cummins old Iron Cross logo and the Fireball logo? I need them for a graphic design project! Please email to barry@bigmacktrucks.com Thanks!
  16. What were you doing when this notification came up?
  17. I had to delete and block microsoft security update KB2761451 from my machine...it had adverse effects on our Mack parts systems at work and probably other pages as well. You can delete it and try from your programs and features under contol panel.
  18. There have been some crazy microsoft updates in the last few weeks...we even had some issues here with some of our Mack software. I wouldn't doubt that Microsoft is trying to kill off some old computers in order to sell new ones! I can say that BMT is up to date, secure and all systems are go! I have also installed the updated Recent Threads plugin. I'm not sure what is affecting some users but I would suspect something on your machines, Java is a big suspect in these kind of issues but I can't be certain. It could even be DNS issues with your ISP. I know of several websites that I cannot visit from home that I can at work. I can't figure it out either!
  19. Testing IE9 and everything seems quick and functioning properly!
  20. Everything seems to be working fine here... What browsers are you guys using? I am using Firefox right now with zero issues.
  21. 20892551 is a 9 spring clutch designed to meet Mack's torsional vibration requirements. Will fits are available but not recomended if you want to protect your entire drive line! Stick with the 9 springs! (I think 6 paddle is 20892561)
  22. Sadly, I can't make it but do take some pics! (Unless they are BMT members in Kilts...I'd respect it but not sure I want to see it! LOL!!!!)
  23. Not sure if we will make the clam bake this year! It was a good time last time! We'll try!!
  24. We are loading up the truck and rolling out tomorrow morning. We'll be set up Saturday only so hopefully the weather outlook improves!
  25. Everything seems fine on my Android...I don't have iPod to test. If you can, download Tapatalk ap and try it! Works really nice!
