  1. Me too! I once wanted straight pipes on my trucks and drag pipes on my bikes. I'm 40 years old now and I think I'm loosing my hearing. I have 7 year old twin boys who like to go with me when they are not in school. They spend a lot of time in the sleeper and I know it's louder back there than in the cab so me (and my wife) think it's time to quiet the big truck down.
  2. Thanks for the help. We're gonna get em on there on way or another even if we have to engineer something. I hope I'm gonna like these Pitt mufflers. I decided to go with them because I figured they would have the least restriction and I don't want this thing to be completely quiet. I still wanna here that E9 bark a little bit.
  3. Tried to get the Mack dealer to find the size dia. of the original mufflers but he could not find it. Even with a 9" muffler the clamps he sold me are still going to be too short.
  4. OK I've been drivin Superliners for the past 20 years. The first was and 83 with an E9 and 6" straights. The next was and 89 with an E7 and 6" straights. Now I'm drivin a 90 with an E9 and guess what...6" straights. I've bought a set of Pittsburgh Power mufflers to put on the 90 model. These mufflers are 10" diameter just like factory. The posts that the mufflers mount to are the square tube type and they have 4 pockets welded on which cradles the muffler and the clamp bolts to the pocket. I used my vin# and ordered the muffler clamps from Mack. These clamps only go half way around the muffler. I mean they miss meeting the mounting pockets with the bolt holes by about 5" on both sides. My question is: Am I missing some pieces or am I going to have to use a 5" long bolt on both sides of this clamp to make it work(which is going to look like Fido's a$$). My truck is a 1990 RW613 vin# 1m2ay39y5lm006179. Any help from the Mack guru's would be greatly appreciated. It's been so long since I've been around a Superliner with mufflers I don't know if I'm missing something or not.
  5. I was watching an episode of Swamp Loggers the other day, I don't know if it was old or new, just something the dvr recorded. One of the drivers was moaning and groaning because he had to drive the RD Mack cause his K-dud was broke down. He drove the Mack just so he could keep working but he didn't like it. If they only knew. And I was just thinking how that RD will still be around when all those K-dud's are in the junk yard.
  6. Friend of mine bought this for $12500. 2004, C-15 500hp. 900K on the truck 300K on the engine since overhaul. Same seller has this truck, 1974 RS700L with an 865. He is asking $7500. Now which manufacturer has the best resale value?
  7. Thanks Rob! If I get it bought I'm wanting to repower with and E9(wishful thinking). The guys asking $7500 but I'm thinking more along your line about price.Freightrain, I don't know anything about this truck, I've never seen it but from what I've been told it's been hauling logs for the past several years. A friend saw it and snapped the pics with a cell phone and sent them to me(he ain't no photographer).
  8. Going to look at this truck next week and I want to get an idea of what it's worth before the haggling starts. It's a '74 with an 865, not sure of the tranny or rears, but it does have a camelback suspension.
  9. That's sharp looking! Wish I could own em all, but already got 4 Superliners. One is an '83 that we have not finished restoring. Bought 2 MH's this summer and I want to build one of those also.
  10. Thanks! I appreciate the compliment. It's a 1990, 613 series, E9, inline pump and injectors spec'd by Steve Trevitz @ Mack Powertrain and work done by Antrim, with a Holset HBT4C turbo. Tranny is a 2180, with 3:87 rears on airride and 24.5 rubber. She pulls about 38-40 lbs of boost and the only thing around hear that will keep up with her is another E9.
  11. It's actually a Bison. It's made by a company called S&V Manufacturing in Winnipeg, Manitoba. I think their web site is sandvgrillguards.com. I have a friend that has an Ali-Arc on a CL and the Bison is a lot better built. I have heard the Ali-Arc and Herd will no longer build bumpers for trucks that are no longer in production. Don't know if that's true or not. The deer population around my home has exploded and Superliner parts are getting harder to come by so that's why I bought one.
  12. This is a more fitting pose for a Paccar product.
  13. As long as I had that Superliner I think I would just fix the CX for a spare!
  14. How do you like those mufflers? I'm running 6" straights right now but since I put ceramic coated pistons in it is really loud. I'm shopping for mufflers and heat shields right now.
  15. I agree with Mack mhe9. The worst my E9 has ever averaged per quarter is 5.4 and the best is 6.2. My 1990 superliner has a 2180 tranny and 3:87 rears. It was set up by Steve Trevitz and Antrim, don't know the hp's but it does a great job. Daddy always said "If you gotta big horse you gotta feed it", but remember, a big horse don't have to work as hard a little horse.
  16. 10 speeds suck! I've never met one that I like!
  17. The Carolina B and the Thurston White are way cool but I like the Corbitt cabover myself.
  18. Amen brother! Roughest riding thing I ever sat my butt in was a 359 Pete.
  19. We just put 6 injectors in an E7 400. They came from Mack Reman. Truck ran perfect to start with but as soon as we put it under a load it started acting funny. Within a few minutes it was skipping a puffing white smoke. Number 2 injector was bad. Had to send it back for another one. Still waiting to hear from the warranty dept as to what they are going to do about the bad injector.
  20. Try Country Boy's Truck Parts in Greenville, KY. Rudy Cundiff. 270-338-6368. Or Winn Rock Truck Parts in Oliver Springs, TN. Bill or John Atterson. 865-435-0032. Both specialize in used Mack parts.
  21. Two words about a 12 speed BULLET PROOF! My experience with them is fantastic. I put a 18 speed in my truck just to have some more overdrive. I still have my 12 speed and would go back to it if the occcasion arises. When I bought my 18 I tried to trade the 12 in on it, but the man was not interested, said he had more 12's than he could sell. The 12's never break and because of this there is very little demand. There are probably a lot of 12's lying around if you know where to look and if they have not gone to the scrap yard.
  22. I have run the Kumho KRD01 drive tires for the past 5 or 6 years and they are exceptional tires. My tire size is 11Rx24.5 and I always make sure I buy the 16 plys. I always get good wear, they never dip out and hardly ever get any flats. Nails and screws can't make it all the way through. The 16 plys ride a little rough but I'll put up with it due to the other benefits. The KRD01's are a solid shoulder tire and my dad went shopping for some a few weeks ago and the dealer told him they were not available anymore. He bought some KRD03's which are an open shoulder but still 16 plys. The price has also gone up. The Kumho's are now about the same price as a set of Michelin's or Goodyear's. I have no complaints and would run another set.
  23. Here's a few of my favs of my RW. Both were taken in Oregon. One in the mountains and one in the desert.
  24. I have a brand new mechanical Bosch Injection pump for a Mack E7400. This pump has never been installed on a motor. It has 0 hours and 0 miles. I have installed 2 identical pumps on engines so far and they run beautifully. If you need any futher info send me a PM or give me a call. My phone # is 803-984-0696. That's my cell # so if I don't answer please leave me a message and I'll call you back. I am offering this pump FOR SALE AS IS WHERE IS. NO WARRANTY EXPRESSED OR EMPLIED. I am asking $1500.00 USD or best offer this pump. I will also ship it for an additional cost. The pump is located in Rock Hill, SC for anyone wanting to pick it up themselves.
