Wonder if your truck was ordered by someone or just 1 in stock. You said all Mack components, what transmission is in it; I’m sure you’ve posted it before. Very cool story on that big boy!

actual glider I believe. there wasn't a single hole drilled in the frame behind the cab. would almost be a shame to build it now. should go into the Mack Museum so Volvo can see ''what use to be done''
Bet the Volvo folks haven’t ever been to the Mack museum & probably want never go.

Probably little hard on drive train, doing that bucking

Make sure your king pins are getting greased completely

Not saying it’s right; but when I ran out of R12, I put 134 in & never changed anything. Finally the slow leak showed up in a hose & replaced it & it runs to the day. John Deere 4455.

Feel for you! Thanks for getting back to us.
that shit sucks!

Let us know what’s up. Please.

I was thinking some of the older trucks & equipment had some sort of a restricted fitting in them. Made it slow to show pressure? Maybe put a manual gauge in the hole & just make sure?

Bet that thing would pull the house down.
Bad dude!

my company has a 2000 rd triaxle with a mack 18 speed in it and i think it has a 400 or 427. it is soon to be my truck. problem is, the previous driver left the company and i dont have anyone to teach me how to shift it. i had never shifted a splitter transmission until today and i did awful. the gears ground so bad when i was trying to split. at what rpms do you upsplit and down split.? what is the max rpm and minumum rpm you can split? going down hill at moderate speed, do you heel/toe to split down while throttling up or throttle off then split then throttle on? preselect splits. are there normal sounds i should be aware of that may have me wondering if i did something wrong? there are so many more questions i have and techniques i need to learn before i really get on the road. i need a lot of practice and im scared of damaging this transmission.
Read operators manual; you can get it from google; Mack trans are different from Eaton

Thanks, I did put a vent in the top. After reading your post, I noticed its hard to see in the photo.
I've been getting guidance from a retired Detroit guy.
Thanks again though. I'm always open to info about my Detroit . I'm trying to learn as much as I can .
This pic shows the vent in the top better .
I’m just blind I guess, went back & saw it. We did some for some customers back in the 90’s & used pvc pipe & used a breather like on a transmission. Yours is lot nicer!

Didn’t see; but you need to have a breather at top of that tank or you’ll have too much airbox pressure & it’ll start leaking from crankcase vents

Shift it like a 9spd & if it don’t shift right & lugs it’s probably a 10.
idk but I think you can tell by just puttin it in high range sitting still & put it in the low hole

Need to be able to power through soft grass without bogging down.
That’s the best thing for those conditions. The Allison.

I’d check & make sure all your lubricants are full

The slip on one looks like the elevator arm on a hand crank R model window. My dealer (bergeys) is pretty good about looking up that kind of stuff, but the parts guys are always busy. Id hate to bug them over nickels and dimes.
That’s there job. No harm (just sayin)

If me; I’d put a mechanical gauge in & see. Probably bad sending unit if you service it regular
