    mike

snap on has the most powerful for now it is awsome it is loud and a bigger body than the ir it will take bolts loose the ir wont but we use them both every day

  2. The MH came on the market in '82, just as congress eliminated the overall length limits on tractor-trailer combinations. The market rapidly shifted to conventionals, although cabovers held on in niche markets and in the states that allowed a 53 foot trailer with 65 foot overall length for a while. Mack handicapped themselves too by offering the MH only in day cab and flat roof single bunk sleeper configurations only, while competitors offered raised roofs and longer sleepers as well as set back front axles. I saw a picture of an early MH with set back front axle and high roof sleeper, but I've never seen another one like it. MH sales were further hobbled by Macks refusal to underbid Mercedes/Freightliner, Navistar, etc. for sales. None the less the MH was probably the finest cabover ever built- I've driven several while temping at UPS with well over a million miles on them and the cabs were still tight and comfy.

mh s are good trucks the weak spot in them is like doug said the gauges ground problems we still run a mh 91 v8 air ride but i think they should go back to cabovers because they keep shoving the engine back under the cab and you cant work on them atleast you could put the cab up and ther it is and that aerodynamic thing aint worked real well eather we got better fuel milage with f models than the new trucks

  3. Just saw on TV that the auto bailout didn't pass, mainly because the UAW wouldn't agree to take a pay cut down to the same pay as Honda and Toyota workers get. So apparently they'd rather just close the doors and lose their jobs altogether, along with many more related jobs like steel, steel haulers, parts, etc.

I don't get it. When you figure in all the benefits with their wages they make around $75 an hour, or more in 2 hours than I make in a typical day, while non union workers at Honda and Toyota make about $35-$40 an hour- not too shabby.

Reminded me of something I read in the paper monday- a professional athlete, I forgot who it was, said they needed to make millions to feed their families, and some comedian said "what the hell are they eating, Mercedes sedans?"

    AMEN

  4. The new Mack MP series engines use the Volvo base engine but the design and development of the EGR emissions system including turbocharger match, cam lift and timing, EGR valve and placement, EGR cooler, intake manifold, and mixer, ECU software design, performance testing, fuel economy testing, and durability testing was done in Hagerstown by the same Mack team of Hagerstown engineers that designed the last 100% Mack engine, the Mack AC-AI series which ran from 2002-2006.

THE MACK E7 WAS HANDS DOWN THE BEST ENGINE EVER BUILT THE END

  5. LETS SEE THOSE PICTURES OF ALL THOSE CRUISELINERS I AM THINKING ABOUT FIXING MINE UP I USE TO SEE A REAL NICE ONE BACK IN THE EARLY 90S LATE 80S WHEN I WORKED FOR MACK IT WAS BLUE AND SILVER AIR RIDE DUEL AIR INTAKES DUEL STACKS ALL ALUMINUM WHELLS ALL THE SHINY STUFF YOU COULD ORDER FROM MACK AND BEST OF ALL IT WAS A V8 IT HAD THE NEW STYLE GRILLE IN IT SO I GUESS IT WAS 80 AND UP I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW WHERE THAT TRUCK IS NOW

  6. I think I'm just looking for any excuse to do so. Sad thing though, the straight pipes and related hardware will cost about 4 times what it cost me to put new mufflers and turn-outs on a year ago. However, I do think the Mack with straights has the best sound compared to the rest.

Unfortunately, I've got the combination jake brake and exhaust brake...so there's relatively little noise...almost sounds like a wet fart. I suppose I could clamp off the air line to the butterfly under the cab...which would make it more useless than it already is.

IF YOUR MUFFLER IS UNDER THE TRUCK JUST LEAVE THE PIPE THE WAY IT IS AND PUT A ELBOW ON IT AND HOOK THE PIPES TO GETHERE THIS WAY YOU WONT HAVE TO BUY THE PIPE OR MOVE YOUR FUEL LINES OR AIR LINES AND IF YOU WANT TO YOU CAN PUT A SMALL MUFFLER RIGHT ONTHE BACK PIPE BRACKET

  7. I was telling one of our drivers that Cat would not be building truck engines any more, and I thought he was gonna cry! There goes his dream of a Kitty Kat under the hood of a 379. Poor guys dreams are shattered. Brad

its true it will be a international truck with cat badges cat yellow and a cat engine sounds funny dont it that came from international dealer
