Short answer Swishman, I dont think it really matters which way you swap them as it's gunna be different every time as you roll off hills or trafficlights change or what ever
As long as the grinding is kept to a minimum
Plenty of experts out there who know and done more than I'll ever dream of doing

A post came up on Facelessbook yesterday and it appears no one knows much about this style of bonnet (hood)
Anyway the first thing I thought of was I had seen that style before on BMT forum
The style of the headlights was similar but thats about all
Anyone have any ideas
Paul
the picture frpm FB
A close up of the headlights
The truck on BMT that has sinlar headlight arrangement
A close up of the head lights
The obvious difference is the FB truck has a tilt front and the hood is shorter were as the BMT has what I would call a butterfly bonnet or hood
Guessing the headlight bezzels (the chrome look headlight surrounds) are maybe from a cab over
Any thoughts anyone?
Was a FB suggestion the bonnet was made shorter because of, read bellow .....
I am an Old Fart that has been around Autocar Garbage trucks for over 50 years and my Theory is that There were LOADS of the Long nosed A cars with the 25 cu yd Bodies on them for over 25years. In the mid to late 70's garbage companies were buying the Longer 31cu yd bodies and could No Longer use the longer nosed Autocars which was {at the time} One of Preferred Trucks they were using {Brockway, Mack, Autocar} Due to Length restrictions Autocar, had to come up with a "Stubnose" {shorter Nose} Model wich I started seeing around the 77-79 time period, with the 31yd Longer Bodies. Mack and Brockway already had Stubbies for years. This is My Theory wich Older guys than me told me as well. Hope This is accurate. If anybody Knows anything to back what I am saying Please inform me.
Or this from FB .....
Early model Constructor model. Right after Volvo bought them out and ruined them.
Anyone know as I definitely don't have any idea and am curious

Agreed, if a turbo is spinning as described it would mean your missing most if not all of you motor internals

Well if you aren't getting smoke when it's sluggish that tells me its a fuel problem
If it's getting HP sometimes but not others that tells me the injectors and everything else mechanical isnt the problem
I would be suggesting either a crook ground connection or a crook connection on that loom some were
Thats as far as I can help you as I have never had one of these and am only using what is logical to me

Id be as excited as a kid on Chrissy morning if it was turning up at my place
Looks great, and dont worry about this turbo spinning rubbish

When it's lagging and sluggish is it making lots of smoke or no smoke ?

Has been a interesting year for a lot of us, keep onlugging away at things and you will be surprised at the progress you make

Im guessing you could if the bonnet (hood) was a fiberglass one
If it is a steel bonnet (hood) I dont think you could as it has to bolt onto the cab, unless you do what they do with sleeper cabs in Australia and mount the bonnet (hood) and cab all on the sub frame and the bonnet (hood) and cab moved as one

Fantastic stuff

Well turbo motors dont make boost for only a couple of reasons
Lack of fuel or lack of air
Does it blow black smoke when its trying to make boost ? If so your lacking air
If theres no smoke then I would say a lack of fuel

If you were in Australia you would just toddle on down to your nearest Mack dealer as they always seem to have them sitting there, surly the States cant be that much different

I still dont know anyone that has had the virus here in Australia so I have no opinion about how severe it is
The thought about ones immune system makes sense to me
I haven't watched the news on TV since 2007 so I am really dum and only get what filters thru to me from social media and family and friends
Stay safe over there in Yanky land and the rest of the world

If that's what it is it will still be pretty steady and 50 MPH or there abouts at full revs

Nope sorry, make sure you have no leaks in the return half of the system as this will cause it to loose prime over night
So all the hoses between the injectors, the air start if fitted as well as the line to the tank

I think it's a 269 c.i.d. .. 100 H.P./ 300 FtLbs of torque... There was a (7something:1) ratio listed in the page I read, but I didnt' believe it.. .. Just for kick's i will jack it up on one side and turn the wheel and count the Pinion rev's... I will post it. 😀 Jojo
Remember that what ever you count you have to times it by two if you only have one wheel off the ground

I would guess the gearing would be in the 8 somethings given its age and what most trucks were like back then
No matter what it ends up been its a neat looking truck

Someone did suggest that might of been the case
How long did Volvo continue to use the White cab after they bought them out ?
Would give a good idea of what year it could be
All this for my own curiosity
