  1. There was a LCF in a local scrap yard a couple of years ago. It was parked sort of off the beaten path. I tried to buy it but never could get the fellow to price it. Went back about three weeks later and it was gone. I never could get an answer as to what happened to it. I heard rumors later that a couple of the employees got caught scrapping stolen vehicles. I would suspect the truck was stolen and it got sent to China. It's a shame because it was in pretty good shape.
  2. Joe, Fred sent me pictures of what he thought were the 402's with the V-12's. I could not see any difference between my truck and the pictures he sent. Also, I would think that the V-12's would have had dual stacks. To route the exhaust around the back engine to come out through a single 5 inch side discharge exhaust would have been a nightmare. The Cummins 335 takes up so much space that I don't see how a V-12 would fit. I could go on but you would have to see the truck to know what I'm trying to explain. Fred was the expert on IH's and did extensive research. If he said there were trucks with V-12's, there probably were. As I said before, we had numerous conversations about the 402's and I'm not convinced there were any with the V-12's. If there were, I think there would have been a difference in the trucks. That's just my opinion and opinions are like "a**holes", everybody's got one. All three of the high binders came out of scrap yards in west Kansas. The red truck and the green truck came from the same yard. The Halliburton truck also came from a scrap yard but it was being used weekly to haul scrap iron. There's also a story as to how I found and bought them. Give me a call sometime and we'll talk about old trucks. Thanks, Dan
  3. How about this one for the KW fans. It may have been posted before on the forum. I sure would enjoy taking it to shows.
  4. Joe, It has an Cummins HRBB-600, 180 hp, and an RT09513 transmission. It also has a pusher axle and I'm having a senior moment because I can't remember the rear ratio. Thanks, Dan
  5. Pz1, I hadn't even given grey a thought. Very interesting suggestion. I'll have to start looking at pictures of grey trucks. Thanks, Dan
  6. Bob, I really can't decide. I've thought about the dark green, yellow, or maybe the red.
  7. PZ 1, I've owned the truck for several years and it's in good mechanical condition. Fred Crismon, "Mr. International", and I had several conversations about the V-12's and I've come to the conclusion that they were a myth for several reasons. I'm hoping to get started working on it next spring as soon as I get my current project done. Here's what I'm working on now. I hope to get it blasted next week and get some paint on it.
  8. Thanks, I'm really enjoying the forum. I've really enjoyed the truck so far even though I'm still working on a few bugs. I hope to get them ironed out in the next couple of weeks. Dan
  9. Yes, I remember. I saw that truck again last year and it had really deteriorated. I was going to go to the tri state show this year but had something come up at the last minute. Now I really wish I had attended the show. I would really like to see that truck in person. Thanks, Dan
  10. Brocky, Joe is correct. It's one of the old Halliburton trucks. IH put the larger 335 Cummins in it and they had to move the radiator forward. It is factory original an is all there. IH didn't build many of them. A lot of people have seen pictures of them but to my knowledge, no one has seen one in person recently.
  11. How about this one? Not many around.
  12. Thanks for the nice comments. When I got the truck the engine was stuck, the injector pump was leaking, it had a huge hole in the oil pan, bearings messed up in the transmission, fuel tanks dinged, and the rear end shot. It has a Cummins HRBB-600 (180 hp) engine, a double disc pump, a Fuller 5-C-720 OD 5 speed transmission, and a 4.11 2 speed rear end. All original except the rear end. I'll try to post some before and after pictures. Thanks, Dan
  13. Thanks, It turned out pretty well to be on a poor man's budget. I bought it sight unseen and wondered what I had got myself into when it was unloaded. It was pretty rough but it was solid. I get a lot of looks when I take it out on the roads. Dan
  14. Been lurking around the forum for years. Got tired of not being able to see the pictures. Don't have any Mack's but they make a pretty decent truck. I'm retired, old, fat, and ugly. My wife doesn't give a didley squat about old trucks which is nice. I usually attend shows if they're not half way around the world. I have met a few members on the forum at truck shows and I look forward to meeting more. I know this is taboo but my interest is the old IH's from the 50's. I've been working on one and I have it about 95% finished. Still working on a few bugs. Some have seen it before. I look forward to participating on the forum. Thanks,
