  1. Ok so here's the quick story..... I bought a superliner about a month ago. Drove it back from VA to FL with no problems other then a little grind when going to high range. Drive it around the next day I get it back and go to start off from a stop and have no right side gears ( 3 4 and 7 8). Take it to a mechanic who we use and he takes the top cover off and says it needs a shift fork. Ok. Puts it back together and still nothing. Trans comes out at this point and the yoke will spin but nothing inside so the mechanic tells me there is major damage inside most likely main shaft is broke not to mention the synchro for low high which alone is close to 1000 bucks. It's strange how this happened. I mean I drove it the entire way from VA to FL with nothing wrong then all of a sudden I need a trans. The truck is a 1988 but it only has 285k on it. Anyone else have this happen? I have a line on a used t2090 for around 1000 bucks but I'm worried about what that one will be like when I get it in. Or I could buy a reman for about 3900. Either way the check book gets lighter unexpectedly.
  2. I'd buy the left side stand but I'm sure it would cost me a small fortune to get it to Florida from your place.
  3. I'm gonna check it out. Are they on there website or did you call them?
  4. How has everyone mounted up the mufflers on the left side? My truck has a single stack so I don't have the bracket for the left side. Any ideas? I looked at r model brackets but there not the same.
  5. So I went to the junk yard looking for exhaust brackets that mount to the frame to dual out the superliner and I found this. A perfectly good y pipe kit for my truck. Had the ends polished out and they look good!!!! These things are so hard to find!!! I hate ordering parts and the counter person says " you have a what??" Didn't find and superliner brackets but picked up some r model brackets.
  6. I think your right. Like I said our other one doesn't have braces. We used a right side bracket on the left side. Just cut the top of it off and rotated it and welded it back on. Works perfect.
  7. I'll check with them. Thanks. I was hoping to not use cross braces. We don't have them on our other superliner.
  8. I'm looking for a left side exhaust bracket that connects the stack to the frame. I could use a right side bracket and make it work but a left side one is preferred. It's going on a 1988 Superliner for a dual stack set up. Please let me know if anyone has any. That's scott
  9. Hey marcel67, i live on the west coast of florida and i just eent and recovered a older mack too. I like your idea to go with a black frame but you should use Mack Red for the cab!! That's exactly what I'm doing on my superliner I just bought. Keep the update pictures coming. If your ever one the left coast of Florida I'd love to see it.
  10. Thanks I agree. I know green is the old school mack look but superliners sure do look pretty in red!!!!!
  11. I think she's going red!! This is my dads truck. Think I'm gonna make it match this one. The truck was originally red anyways.
  12. Heres a shot of my truck I just purchased to restore and a picture of my dads red truck that I hope to get mine looking lie.
  13. Thanks superdog. Can't wait to get it fixed up so I can get her painted and all dressed up.
  14. Nice looking superliner. Just got my self one. I know how hard they are to find in good shape.
  15. The shifter it's self may need replaced too?? What type of money should I expect to pay for a repair like that? It's at a local guys shop that we use for our Mack's.
  16. Just purchased my 1988 superliner from a member on this forum! I looked everywhere for a nice clean one and seems all the ones that were listed were rusted out junk. I'm happy so far with it drove it 950 miles from Virginia to Florida on 11/23/13 with no problems. Specs= 350 9 speed mack trans engine brake 286000 miles. Only issue I have now is once we got it back it wouldn't shift into the right side gears ( 3rd and 4th and 7th and 8th on the high side). Thinking it may have broke a shift fork but not sure yet. Any ideas on that?
  17. More pictures of the superliner getting her fueled up on the trip down from VA.
  18. Yup I'm happy with her!! Made it from VA to Florida with zero problems!! Once I got it back it isn't going into 3rd and 4th or 7th and 8th. Thinking it has a shift fork issue. I'm not complaining it is 25 years old and everything else works great!!
