  1. Does anyone know any thing about 2006 VOLVO VHD64 Dump Truck the set up is VED12 Volvo 465 HP, 8LL, Jake, 4.56 Ratio, Hendrickson Walking Beam, Double Frame, 20K FA, 46K RA, 3 Steerable 13K L/A, Air Tailgate, 90 Gallon Aluminum Fuel Tank, 302" WB, 27'6" Bridge, 425/65R22.5 Steer Tires on Aluminum Wheels, 11R24.5 Drive Tires on Steel Wheels, Chrome Bumper, P/S, A/C, AM/FM CD, Heated Mirrors, Cruise, Diff Lock, Air Ride Cab, Power Passenger Window! All I've ever owned was Macks. I'm trying to find out if Volvos are dependable piece of equipment.
  2. But I used dump with an aluminum bed. And this thing is NASTY! It was ran in and out to land field hauling slag. I'm trying to get her ready to run asphalt. I got most of the thick stuff off but it's still a lot there! I'm open to any suggestion just need some direction. Sand blast, soda blast anything that you guys know that works! Many thanks!
  3. Is that why the spec the Allison usually out at 445hp?
  4. Thinking about buying a Used truck that was used in the Landfill to haul slag! As you guys know that stuff is Nasty! Wanted to know as far as cleaning the truck and going through her! Should I pressure wash, sand blast, should I change brakes, chambers, ??????? It is an Cl 700 1998 six axel and has Aluminum dump bed. Aluminum tag axel wheels! The Aluminum looks dirty and I would take any ideas on cleaning that up also! I'll be running her on milling and don't want to look like what she has been running in (DUMP)!
  5. I took a look at the truck today and the rear hosing had a crack that they welded on the front of the housing near the front right! It looked like the weld held but he told me that he thinks another crack stared beside it! I really could get a good look because he's putting a new rebuilt Mack tranny in her! I'm really think I'm going to buy her a few months ago he had new reman Engine out in her, clutch, that rear end that has a leak was a remack read end put in a year ago. He put to knew tie rods on the front and new turbo when he put motor in! This guy had bought a few newer trucks and BANG HE LOST HIS MAJOR CONTRACT! So now he needs some quick money to keep things in order long story short he offered me this truck 98 Cl 700 six axel Dump for $20,000 I just don't see how I can go wrong!
  6. They tell me the New Allison's 4500 series are bulletproof!
  7. Thanks for the reply! I went to the dealership the other day and looked at the new Granites the way the had the antennas wired it looks like a lot of work to pull them wires and install your own!!! So I guess you right I'll just keep everything stock I just hope Mack used good stuff because communication is Key with me!
  8. still need to know where to look for a used one! And also price on parts and Labor?
  9. I think he either has 44 or 46 on the back and it's camelback suspension! I haven't looked at it yet I will tomorrow but he did tell me he tried to weld it before! So I just figured if I'm buying it expect the worst and find out what it would cost!
  10. Yes I've found 1998 Cl-713 for a good price however the Axle Housing (Rear) has a crack in it! It has stopped him from running but me personally if I decide to purchase it would want to fix it! Wanted to know where the best place might be to look for a used one & if anyone knows what they are priced at used! And how many hours in labor? Many thanks.
  11. The difference in insulator pads is the way they are made, rubber is organic and urethane is synthetic so the hardness and the way they wear can be changed with out losing drivability, typically it is like going from a good to better. Rubber tends to start to deteriorate as soon as it is installed because of ozone, grease, freeze/thaw, dry rot etc....urethane is designed to resist all that stuff with higher load capacity, tear resistance, compression, abrasion, oil and fuel resistance, uv protectant, etc... Rubber is typically cheaper and last a fair amount of time depending on application so that is why it gets used by OEM manufactures
  12. I serched for you and here are some of the responses I've found. 57bcr said "I like the urethane bushings & pads also.Worth the extra moolah!" 84superdog said "Oh and Yes to the urethane bushings, they ride a little rougher but last twice as long". You might want to message them and ask questions!
  13. Ok! I'm in dump Truck so I guess I would be fine with Mack Antennas I guess I just like to get out a little more down here these DOT is relentless!!!'
  14. Ok! I'll find some to calibrate it! Really just wanted to know quality of New Mack antennas! Like I. Said I have STRYKER SR-497HPC 10 METER HAM RADIO, THATS LOUD & VERY POWERFUL!!! IT HAS BEEN ALIGNED/PEAKED/TUNED BY TECH,HIGH OUTPUT,CLEAR AUDIO AND READY TO GO! But I also have a nice Cobra Night-watch radio! So just trying yo see if anyone is running the Mack antennas and how they like them!
  15. Wanted to know how is the performance on Mack CB antennas! I have a new pup due anytime and wanted to know how are standard Mack Antennas? I usually run with Wilson's 1000. I also have a Styker Radio and a Cobra! Just looking for good input on this many thanks!
  16. Ok! Thanks that make sense being that the truck has no clutch. I'll tell you with this allison I'm starting to see the benefits before I even bring this pup home. It seem that it will be a lot easier on the Operator! No worn out leg, both hands can stay on the wheel, black topping, milling will be much easier!
  17. Ordered a New Granite with an Allison in it and noticed an up charge to change PTO from air shift for manual transmission to hot shift for automatic. Trying understand the difference?
  18. xdudebrahx there's a lot More to starting a Business than to just Driving a Truck! However if you got the will to help Feed your desire you can make it! May advice is 1st make sure that your Credit in in place! This will help you establish some accounts for: Tires, Parts, a Good mechanic, Fuel! Try to establish at least a net 30 payment plan. This will give you a little room to allow the the Truck to pay for expense that may occur. 2nd you are only as good as your product so you have to make sure that your next move is your best Move! Your Truck has to be SOLID! Don't be scare to pay a little more for a good piece of equipment. The reason I say this because whatever company you will be dealing with you MUST always remember that a good name is better than Gold. So you want everyone to know that you are dependable and won't be breaking down all the Time. As far as paper work and Taxes don't panic intuit offers online Turbo Tax and Payroll for like $500.00 A year. Other than that you call speak with your buddies on how clean up your $$$. Next thing you have to think about is Steady Work. Who do you plan on working with and then try to establish I good relationship with them. But at the end of the day what's going to really help you make this decision is what type of Financial debt you are already in. House note, rent, car note, food, children, wife. Remember it's all about numbers! If it's not adding up then it's subtracting!!!
  19. Rob many thanks for the call! I've got my sale rep checking into that as soon as I find out exactly how the process work I'll let uou know! He's acting like I already got a discount but at the same time he couldn't tell me about the warranty! So I told him to check into it and get back with me! If it wasn't the weekend I'd call Allison myself. If you find out anything else let me know.
  20. Hey truckers I'm bringing a new pup home with and Allison 4500 RDS in her, it's my first truck with an auto in it?
