  1. Hard to say about the trans, not much info to go on.It must be a duplex, triplex,or quad. if it's got 2 sticks, all were available in B models. The hi-lo splitter,I don't know-does it have a 2 speed rear too? If you can get the number off the trans. you can go to www.oldmacksrus.com/trannys and find out what it is. And oldmacks.com has a trucks for sale page, with photos, where you might get some idea what it's worth.I gave $6000 for my B-53 mixer 3 years ago,it was in very good condition.I have seen B-models around for as little as $1,000-$1,200 but they needed lots of work. There was one in Cumberland,Va. for $3500 that was in pretty good shape,a single axle B-61 tractor.

  2. OK guys...if you missed it, you missed one of the best Lititz shows yet! The weather was great and the old iron fans were out in full force! Here is just a sampling of what we saw...

That is a neat looking show-where is this located if anywhere? Is the old equipment and mixer retired and parked at the same site? I've seen some of the trucks at Winchester and the bus in N.C.
  3. im 28 but have the same tast in music as most "older" (i use that term lightly!) folks. Floyd,Stones, the who, led zepplin, good steady beats for pulling them hills. I also like some of the later classic rock in the likes of ACDC,the police, sabbath, kis etc.. I was a 90s genaration kid so alternitive or grunge as some call it was popular. Alice in chains,Stone temple pilots,Metallica,Tom petty as long as its Rock, good blues, jazz and it holds a good rythem I can listen to it. I dislike rap and pop as its a joke to me. Theres no tallent involved to dub inyour voice behind an electric background drums guitar and bass. The "bling bling" rappers are the worst. how did we let that happen?

    I don't know,but I agree totally

  4. I'm the same age as you, and I'm still into that type of music too.

My wife says "WTF is the matter with you listening to that sh*t at your age"?

I tell her "If you don't like it, get some earplugs".

Here are a couple Pink Floyd links:

Whew! And I got up this morning wondering why I even put this question out there. I have the Delicate Sound of Thunder video along with

Pulse and Live at Pompei. I saw the Pulse tour at Raleigh.

  5. OK, I know this isn't the recipe corner or music discussion forum, but I was just looking at Aussie Floyd on You Tube. That's an Australian Pink Floyd tribute band, and very good I must say. I'm 51 years old, married most of it,been driving a truck for 29 years come January, and Pink Floyd is my Favorite band. Got to see them live in Raleigh,N.C. in the early '90s-I've seen the Eagles, Jimmy Buffet,Lynard Skynard,Dan Fogelburg (former girlfriends idol, that's the only reason ),ZZ Top several times, and many others-but Pink Floyd put on a truly awesome show, far and away the best concert i've ever seen. So my girl friend and I got into this discussion-well,most drivers my age are into Country and Bluegrass, and I like some country music, but mostly like the Floyd,ZZ Top,George Thorogood, etc. and I always listen to classic rock on my XM when I listen to music. I've completely worn out a couple of "Dark Side of the Moon " tapes...so the question is-am I an aardvark or not?

  6. LOL...sounds good! We've been seeing the same results! I can't wait for the 16 liter MP's to come out! Should be all kinds of fun!
When Mack comes out with the BIG horsepower i'm gonna ask Jeff to get me a Mack, when I wear that Peterbilt out!
  7. Vista - UGH

I have had the unpleasent experience of fighting to get it working right on a friends computer.

That's the same thing the Diesel Gypsy says about vista! Anyway, I had no luck-it's still the same. Still won't work with my pictures I have saved, but I can use a picture from my gallery on BMT-whether it stays or not I don't know yet.
  8. Hmmm odd problem. What version of windows do you have or are you on a Mac?

I would try this if you have windows XP:

-First find a picture online that you want as your background.

-Right click the picture and click "save picture as"

-Save it under "My Documents" (you can click the my documents button on the left of the save picture window, maybe even make a seperate folder for your background)

-Ok go to your desktop and right click it and click properties.

-Once in the display properties click the desktop tab at the top.

-You should see a dialog box full of pre installed backgrounds, backgrounds you have previously set, as well as backgrounds that are set by your web browser. to the right is a button marked browse. Click that.

-Click the my documents button and then double click on the image you saved.

-Now click ok at the bottom of the display settings window and your background should come up and stay up.

If that doesent work then you have a problem that I cant put my finger on.

Thanks y'all,i have no viruses detected,so i'll print this so i can follow step-by-step and see what happens. I have windows vista home premium.
  9. Anybody know anything about computers ? My picture I had as my background won't stay on-it disappears every time I turn it off,or restart, and I just have a black screen except for the usual icons. It didn't use to do this. And now none of my pictures will appear as a background picture at all,but if I go to A website and get A picture it will, but still disappears if I turn the pc off and restart it later. Stupid computers.

  10. For those of you who are familiar with the Double Clutch magazine, in the current issue of August/September, an article i wrote is featured. It is titled "william bonito revisited." I believe i posted some pictures of bonitos trucks in the gallery on this site. Just figured i'd give anyone a heads up, i think they put in 9 of the 13 pictures i submitted. I have more articles brewing at the moment, just have to write some more.

    Bryan

Got mine yesterday-haven't had time to read it,but I did look at the pictures!
  11. i could drive a duplex , quadbox & triplex before i could a airshift (@15yrs old) 1st airshift tranny i drove was a 7spd mack @ age 26

it took me a couple of days when we got a DM W/ the 2070 (7spd) to learn 3rd gear (1st high gear) was back over where 1st gear postion was ...lol

but once i got the hang of it it was riding a bike

ive seen guys (& a few women too ) try speed shift a 6,7, & 8 spd Maxitorque tranny like a Roadranger & grind gears so hard I HAD TO SHOW THEM TO BASICALLY GLIDE THE STICK TO THE NEXT GEAR ........ A bunch of the guys that got out of say a KW Dump into a :mack1: dump moan & complain that they cant "speed shift" the Mack like a roadranger

I Myself get out of a Mack & into a truck w/ a Roadranger i have to remember to shift a ittle quicker than the Maxitorque ;)

I My self perfer the OLE 2Stick trd & td series &trl trx series &2000 series over the Roadrangers but will drive a roadranger

but ya know what they say bout opinons ;)

    just my 2 cents yall

    Later

:mack1:That would probably be me too-i've driven about every roadranger there is , drove a couple of Freightliners with Meritor transmissions, they used to be Rockwells I think, but I have no experience with any of the later model Mack transmissions and probably wouldn't know what to do with one either.

  12. I might as well put my 2 cents worth in-I'm not a mechanic,or rebuilder, but I've been driving for almost 29 years, and i've scraped as many gears as anyone ( still do sometimes, and that's just laziness ). I'd go with the old 5 speed maxitorque with that 237. In 1980 I got out of a '74 IH with a 903 Cummins and 13 speed into an F-model with a "300" (actually 285 hp) and a five speed. The 903 was a 2600 rpm engine, you downshifted at about 1900 or 2000 rpms, and the Mack you just let pull down to about 11-1200 rpms before you had to downshift. You never got in a hurry shifting it.You could downshift easily without the clutch after you got used to it,but that's about the only truck i've ever driven that I double-clutched up shifting, but like I say you couldn't really shift them very fast anyway. It took way more skill to shift that 5 speed Mack than the Eaton-Fuller 18 spd. I drive now. Oh,I bought an m22 Muncie once and put it in my '72 Nova.It came with a 3 spd. in the floor. Put a competition plus shifter on it,then bought a vertigate because it looked "tuff".I liked the look of all them levers in the floor even then. The vertigate was an in-line shifter, and did look tuff, but I found it really wasn't as quick as the hurst. Sometimes simplest is the best. Like a 5 speed Mack.
