  1. thanks a lot...now I feel even older than I'm already is
  2. .
  3. I've pulled a flatbed over 30 years now...hard to believe, but true.
  4. I have not seen him- but then I haven't been broke down for about 3 weeks now. He'd probably come rescue me if I needed rescuing though. And speaking of missing- hadn't heard from Nocluejoe for a while. He used to call or send a picture once or twice a week, then just stopped. I called him a couple of times and left messages but still never heard anything. I thought maybe he was shunning me, but I found out that he's still alive and well, he called me just now.
  5. gee Larry, so now we know how you really feel, eh? (Canadian) Bulldog Mack you've also got to be wary of people playing "fix that post" and altering other people's replies here. Double L is one of the worst about doing that, but it's all in fun
  6. The PT Cruiser kind of started the retro look, then the Mustangs and Challengers came along, and now the Camaro's back- I always thought if they made a new modern B-model looking cab -bigger of course- it would be a fine looking and very aerodynamic truck. Probably never happen though.
  7. I have the same problem, it's hard to find wide boots that fit me right. Red Wings were some of the best I've had. Had a pair of Rocky wellingtons once and they fit good and were light and comfortable but the soles didn't last long and they couldn't be resoled.
  8. how's this?
  9. yeah...
  10. this does too-
  11. You probably won't see that sumbish until summer, when he'll be spreading more global warming b.s.
  12. Me too! And the hot sauce- not bragging, but I think it's the best i've ever made, had a really good flavor.
  13. We might need a volunteer to go to Tennessee and check on Mike. I'm starting to worry about his well being, he should have reported in by now.
  14. I've been driving in snow all week. Snowed in West Virginia every day this week- probably snowing over there now. Just got back from Orchard Park, N.Y. But I think the slickest road i've ever been on in my life was in Wyoming last year, between Casper and Sheridan. I can believe that about the "hold my beer..."- a Suburban with "University of Wyoming" on the side of it spun out twice but they got it out and took off again both times and passed me like I was sitting still and I never saw it again, like it was bidness as usual.
  15. the weather eye says it's supposed to be back up to 40 here Monday and Tuesday-yay! That's a very accurate weather program for your PC- you can put in your location plus a second location if you want and the temperature will be on the bottom of your screen- it's 19 here and 7 in Elliott Lake, Ontario. Click on the temperature and it gives you the 5 day forecast. Old Bill told me about it a couple of years ago. It's free too...free is good. http://www.theweathernetwork.com/desktop/weathereye/
  16. sounds exactly like what the '77 300 Mack I drove would do when a little short piece of hose would split, letting the turbo "suck air". I carried a piece of heater hose with me and had to replace that hose on the road several times. It was a small hose, about 5 or 6 inches long. I know nothing about a V8.
  17. dammit! just the encouragement I needed...and I was well on my way to recovery.
  18. you shouldn't have posted that picture...you know how I am, and i'm trying to quit...keep telling myself "do not alter that picture...do not add any captions"...but it's tough. I'll just add this one.
  19. "Now that's just funny right there, I don't care what nobody says"- Larry the Cable Guy That's hilarious...even if parts of it reminds me of home. Did you write that? Is Larry the Cable Guy your secret identity?
  20. true that, I'm the same way- I was coming down I-79 in West Virginia this morning, road completely snow covered except for 2 tracks in the right lane. I was running 50 mph. and a big truck blew by me that had to be doing 70, like he was on dry pavement. He went on about his binness and I didn't see him in the ditch anywhere, but he had way more nerve than i've got.
  21. I agree 100%- that's the worst part, all the morons you gotta deal with. They just HAVE to be in front of the truck, and let 200 cars go by and pull out in front of the truck every time! That's the main reason I hate driving in snow anymore, there's just so much traffic out there.
  22. I like Howes myself, works good and tastes great. ...just kidding, DO NOT DRINK IT!..good stuff for your fuel though.
  23. I like cold...I just don't like the snow!
  24. Saw a few Burns trucks this week at the truckstop at exit 161 on I-64 in West Virginia, including the rare blue unit. I've seen a red one too, but most are Mack green, even the International. This is a shot of Burns' yard located on rt. 60 at Sam Black Church, W.V. I believe they still have the yard and main office in Marlinton, but i'm not sure. They opened this yard a few years ago, and they haul pulpwood from the Westvaco yard a few miles west of here in Rupert to the paper mill in Covington. The story in "Wheels of Time" a few years ago said they lost a lot of stuff in a flood at Marlinton.
  25. Swishy has several more trans. models and shift pattern pages in his gallery.
