  1. every now and then I see a ch or cl with a detroit series 60 in them for sale in the canadian ads from truck trader..I wonder if some were from the store in toronto?..,mummn for the gentleman with the 8v92 in a b61..let us know how it runs?..I am kinda leaning that direction with my truck..for a repowered b81sx.. Thanks Deo
  2. looks good.. i like that intercooler / aftercooler on the intake..... i tought all the mack trans had triple countershafts..mummn i guess i was mistaken..is that just the later 13 and 18speed mack trans?... so how much power can my old quadraplex take?....i definately will want to upgrade then as i plan to be able to work mine when done...mummn..and have a lot of power... looks liek i have to swap a e7 and its regular tran in then or find a e9 or use the cat 3406 b...mumnn then radiator problems maybe... mummn too much $ argh my wallet is hurting now just thinking of it..hehe but yours looks really really nice. i likethepaint etc. thanks deo
  3. I am real personalable with the dogde and a cummins. I have afirst gen dodge the first year made a'89 4x4 1 ton single wheel.. It is a tank. Very tough ...my dad has a2002 4x4 cummins dodge and it is nice onece you put guages and bigger fuel lines with fuel pressure gauge..the 24vs like to eat lift pumps if it does ythge injection pump isn't too much further... The cummins engine has much more power potential then the powerstoke and the duramax..lots of 700-800 horse cummins rolling around... noty too many powerstrokes or duramax with that much power..plus the parts are cheaper.... and much easier to work om in the truck..the powerstokes and duramax are tigh..the powerstroke is real tight ..to work. if you've seen the parts from a cummins side by side to a duramax or a powerstroke you'sd be amazed the cummins rod and piston is over double the size and much much beefier....now the newer dodges the truck its self kinda sucks..they have door rust issues, the front axle has balljoints instead of the older style king pins..and it wears em out fast and wanders around from abad designe cross steering bar...plus no crew cab..even that new mega cab is nice but only available with a short bed....argh... my uncle has aduramax and 6 spd manual and likes it my other uncle has a'03 dodge cummins and really likes it..so i have a few in the family .. pesronally i would like to have a ford superduty f550 4x4 crew cab with a p 7100 inj pump cummins and the allison world tranny or a 6 spd manual.... the f550 and f450 are reallyu really tough plus the rear end is huge..only sucky part is th eratios i think you can only order 430 as the highest ratio from ford..dana has high like 355 etc available but not from ford on th eorder sheet..if you have the power 355 or 3.07s would be nice..my '89 has 3.07s and twin turbos its runs nice... thanks Deo
  4. yeah I too am a cummins fan , I have a few b series, I have a first gen cummins dodge with twins on it and my dad has 2002 24 valve..great trucks... still debating what to repower the b81 with to make some power.. my friend is also a detroit mechanic. He doesn't like the new egr series 60s...He and I both agree that we think the pre egr 14L 575 hp series 60 was the best...the series 50 320 hp engiens make great 6 wheeler dumps etc... as for 2 strokers ..i have 2 6v92, was debating making a 12v92 but its a pain in the butt and not too useful if you were gonna work it..got 2 353s and 1 1/2 6v53s.. always thought a 353 would be nice in a t bucket with a jake...mine be best top put a E7 in my B 81 and turn it up... talk to you guys later. Deo
  5. mummn well the 12v71 i had a line on was sold a week after my intial call ..oh well.. i ma intersted in those kws man sucks to be poor my wife already barely allowed me to by that b 81 ha...we just bought a van for the family too..mummnn my brother lives out in seattle may have to check it out... as for the cat b model..man funny you mentioned that ..i was thinking about that myself as a freind has one for sale also..figured you could get aALOT of power pretty easy with one of them...if you built it right..the cooling capacity has been bugging me too not sure how i would do that.....i thought of aE7 turned up with different injectors and teh computer tuning box ..supposedly good for 600 hp that way...mummn if i sell some of my cars i could have aenought $ to do something bad ha..how much did you want for your 3406 b? thanks Deo
  6. mummn 560 hp and 200 ftlbs sounds nice fro ma e7 ..i used to drive e7 427 and it wasn't too bad..but the n14 cummins and 550 cat spoiled me, i imagine a 560 horse mack would be close to a 550 cat...just a little lower torque wise.. would be nice to swap in to a b model.. There is computer add on box available here http://www.citydiesel.net/blixxton-mack-e7...5e96da6913fad76 do the injectors and trubo and a box. thanks later Deo
  7. ...well the egt or pyro will go down quickly even if the truck is over heating...especially if your pyro is mounted post turbo .. the cooling system can heat soak if yout not watching it...at least thats my personal experience. I once had to run one of my turbo diesels with out a oil cooler on a temp basis ...and that thing the oil trem p was thru the roof as the oil is used to cool the pistons etc so that accounts for a good chunk of coolant system heat , beside the waterjacket its the oil cooler, and new trucks a egr cooler etc lots of heatsoak hose and rubber failure on new egr trucks.. thansk Deo
  8. yeah CL are nice ..im my opinion the nicest new mack you can get. My old boss had aCL heavy hauler tractor with E9 500hp was nice they sold it a few years back because of emissions, anothe rold boss of mine (ha) has a Cl log truck with pup that is sharp. And there was a CL triaxle dump truck running around here with a signature 600 cummins in it. it supposedly was a good runner. I like em.. I see a few from canada in th etruck paers that had 425 cats it em too even saw a detroit series 60 in a canadian ad before not sure if it was glider they built or what. but nice trucks i believe the Cl have the 13" straight frame rails also ..or bigger.. I know that log truck had the bigger frame. any how merry christmas Deo
  9. It is probably easier to find one in the northeast states like ny and nj or any state sthat test diesel emissions like california ..as most of the mechanical trucks fail the opacity tests. so unless its a show only, or collector truck... most of em are not working or get sold because of the emissions tests..thats how i bought my 92 series detroits and my old boss sold his '98 CL E900 500 heavy hauler because of that reason.. Still see that truck every now and then it was nice last of the e9's.. here in ny the older the truck is the more its allowed to smoke ie up to 75% opacity up to 1973 year then it goes down in steps.. but 75 % on a snap idle test is still tough to meet on a mech engine that is turned up.. plus most of the tests in ny are random road checks by officers or if in westchester county and south you need a yearly test... any how... for that reason a lot of old iron is being exported here in ny and nj...at least thats what I see and I test the trucks. Thanks merry christmas Deo
  10. B81SX, Whoa there feller. I think you mis-understood me some how...... I don't see what was sarcastic in my response. Again, I don't want to upset any one here. This a forum to help others. Your response was more informative with specifics on price and work that you do. I was basing my post, on my experience. The last Big Truck I painted was for one of my old jobs, and that took 3 weeks, Including sandblasting the dump body. Lots of work. My friends body shop has told me a cheap auto or car paint job is around $4000. That is where my $3500 or more price came from. The part where I said it may be better to befriend a body shop guy was not supposed to sound sacastic. That is how I do things myself. I horse trade, or barter with friends, and network - to get what I need accomplished. I wish I made more $, as I bet most people do. I for one don't make a enough $ and even buying a truck to restore is a major purchase, let alone buying the parts to fix it up with. I end up doing a few after work loads, or helping on my days off, greasing etc ....just to be able to borrow a Tractor & Lowbed to bring my truck home. My experience has been if I help others out and do them favors, they will help me out, and do me favors..only way I can do it. NYS does not pay me enough. Again, that is where i was coming from, and I'm genuinely sorry that You thought my post was evil natured or sarcastic. Thank You, Merry Christmas Deo
  11. B81sx, Beside the mis-spelling of "Like", what was so silly of my response? I said it would probably be $3500 or more to do what he wanted, and it would be cheaper to do it yourself or have a friend at a body shop help him. Thats how I do 99% of my work. If I don't know how to do it, I read about it, try it myself, or have a friend who does it help me out. I could not afford do do anything, if I had to pay a mechanic to fix or build my cars or trucks. I was not trying to be a smart ass or what ever you thought I was being. Sorry if I offended you by spelling like wrong. I have dyslexia and if I type fast and don't proof read it, I end up with some errors. I spell the as teh, like as liek, and others wrong. You get the picture etc, its not that big of a deal. These forums and email are not forum paper writing documents and I don't type as if they were. I normally type as if the post was a conversation, not a letter. I was just trying to help another truck guy out. Thats what the forum is all about. Sorry again, I will try and re read my post and correct my spelling before posting in the future. Thanks Deo
  12. thanks for the info. 8.5 " rims shouldn't be too bad to find or buy...i imagine the spacer will have to be different with the 8.5 rims correct?.. oh and can you mount any 12x24 tires on aluminum rims?..ie did they ever make a 24 aluminum rim either tube or runable with out tube?. Thanks Deo
  13. yeah im hoping i can make it work ..the detroits torque is not that high and much higher in the rpm range ..so i think if i can keep the 20spd quad box it would be neat. I i can find a 6x6 mack mixer to part out it would be cool to make it a 6x6... I do know where there is a old oshkosh 6x6 with a 671 in it that is rough sitiing out size with broken windows and trash inside it i keep stopping by and checking it. I has a wierd front drive axle not the normal rear end looking style. I looks simlar toa tractor axle ie cast housing tapered axle tubes etc..i wonder what weight rating it would be?...I'll havbe to see if i can still get that 12v71.... I hope so. I heard of a 12v71 brockway going for scrap two weeks ago also..made me sick to my stomach....argh..got to keep looking for parts. Most of my freinds are not into trucks and think I'm crazy. Ha the friends i have that are into trucks still think im nuts. HAHA Later Deo
  14. I'm familar with normal 24.5 tubeless tires but that is not what i am talking about. the 24 tires im speaking about are tube style webb or spoke wheel that are much larger then 24.5's..i was inquiring if most 24 size tire would fit on the 24 rim either 11x24 or 12 x24 or bigger and what the biggest tire i could fit on a B81sx. I was also woundering if they made aluminum rims for tube style ires or if you could run the tubestyle tires without the tube..etc.. some one here must know. Thank You, Deo
  15. sounds like $3500 or more..a car paint job costs thats and truck is more work.. seems liek you need to start painting yourself or become buddies with a body man... thanks Deo
  16. my b81 has 11x24 tires rims, I was wonder if teh 12x24 or bigger would fit and it that aspoke or webb whell only tire because of the tube or do they make any aluminum rims that fit 11 x24 or 12x24 or bigger taller more aggressive tires etc??? aluminum rims with big tall tires would look nice.. any info? thanks deo
  17. I am wondering is any body has seen a 12v71 in a B81sx?..I heard some people had seen a 671 in a b61 ..the b81 has alonger hood and the 671 and 12v71 are the same length... but th v models are wider and not as tall .I am think a 12v71 may fit a b81sx.. I have a line on a 12v71 ..might make a nice project. any ideas? thanks Deo
  18. I'd be intersted in the video clip and dvd when available. here is my email Thanks Deo therabbittree@juno.com

  20. Can you get a pic of the dm600 with the v-12 ..and engine bay shot?... mumn...I just was about to by uty a 1971 brockway u360tl with a v-12, 13spd, 44 rockwells, and double frame from long island ny area..had the cash and had the lowbed from my old job ready to move it ..day before im supposed to get it the guys calls up and decides to keep it..argh....says to check back in a few months..I was pissed..considering i bought a complete used jake set with thetall covers for $750 fom out in portland oregan and had em shipped to ny cost $80 bucks to ship..ha..now its sitting in my basement looking pretty..maybe i can get the truck soon enough keep checking with the guy... As for mack with detroits there was a b75 on the truck paper with a 8v71 in it for sale a couple of months ago it was a old highway or dot truck it was tractor and looked nice... I have 2 6v92 sitting here i've debated trying to put one in a b-81 thats near here or makeinga 12v92 out of them..i heard the 6v92 were a little better then the 8v92, ie more reliable less likely to break down or get water in the oil etc, any body have any info have info?.. thanks deo
  21. I think the injection pumps were differnt on th e9s also..earlier ones had a split pump and laters ahd ainline vesrion of ap7100 bosch..i know how to do those and my freidns family hada 95 cl700 with a 500 hp ep that had the inline pump..i looked at a older superliner i think it was a88-90 and it had 500hp e9 but it had a split injection pump ie 4 lines in a row and themn another 4 lines in a row ..if i remeber the split pump had the plungers or barrels set in a v...any body have info on them?... thanks Deo
  22. I beleive those are polished aluminum stockers ..klots of time and elbow grease..... i hope to try that with some 12v71 covers i have...cast aluminum is hard to polish nice as it often has pitting thta shows up..those e9s look good..his truck is sweet i have a bunch of other pics of it but no wengine shots i'll have to add that one any more engine shots from it?.. thanks Deo
