  1. Ok I lied bought a fancy one. 350 9 speed 38's spec'd all wrong for the job did 535.000 K's in 26 months worked it round the clock
  2. Matt. That was a rare occurance, it rained for 2 weeks and it was nite shift. and the bloody truckwash filter system blocked up, when the sun came up the water in the truck wash was the colour of chocolate milk. You could not notice it in the dark. that is why i decided to use the old Mack on the job as I would not buy a new truck to treat it like that. Realy, it is quite the opposite no dust, water sprays everywhere. As for the aircleaners replace them every 6 months regardless. Mark ,
  3. Welcome to down under. Like Rod said, don't tell anyone. It's pretty cool living down at the bottom of the world. Not many know we are here. It only snows on a hill down south now and then. Beautifull one day perfect the next what can i say Regards Mark
  4. Joe If thats the Mack in the photo it don't look too bad. If you are going to do a ground up restoration you realy need a shed. Friends and Helpers are ok but.. will they keep comitted to the project. You got to be able to do as mutch of the work as possible yourself. Hope you got a BIG toolbox. Shure you can do it, but how far do you want to go? How big is your wallet. What is actually wrong with the truck? Like i said before early mack parts are around you just have to search around these days Gleemans Don't keep a lot of early stuff any more as the demand is not there. Shure. they get the odd one in now and then. Good luck with your project, Just keep your ear to the ground and ring around you will get there.... Mark
  5. Hi Tim. I would have thought they would be popular in the US. They were a lot of trucks with them over here. I bought a 20 speed spicer to replace the Quad box and never fitted it, thats how i had the spec sheets. I drove one and could not get used to all the clicky things on the stick, Kept forgetting where i was at. If you look at the spicer box they are a better box than the roadranger. Bigger gears better designed but they were twice the price to do up . Thats why i chickened out and bought a roadranger. I had that box for years and only sold it about 2 years ago. Mark.
  6. Grant I have a spec sheet somewhere on a 1420-3B if thats any good. will have to look for it.
  7. Yeh Rod, The only Duel i had was with the pressure washer every wekend. .
  8. So do I. The C line was like driving a mobile lounge chair. IT always will be my favorite truck dunno why?
  9. David. How do you think we feel changing gears with our right hand. Not to mention driving on the wrong side of the road. I couldn't do that. Just a thought though, Might get more of a suntan on me left arm though.
  10. Ducky. I would personaly go for at least the oil guage and temp guage capilary type. I don't trust electric temp and oil guage's. They give you an exact or better reading. Iknow from experience. Electric guages frighten me. They don't read bad till the last minute my 2 bobs worth. That speedo in the old mack is a fancy leccy type. It cost more than the truck,But i like it. accurate as. Mark.
  11. Ducky just got home from work getting a bit dark.
  12. This inter more or less started me off 30 years ago Ended up with a big eaton No 5 2 speed diff out of a R190 and a ten speed road ranger. tared at 7.10 tons. Used to get 20 ton payload The job was for an eight wheeler they could only 15 tons payload. Thus the short trailer. handy little tool.
