  1. I've never been able to verify this, but this is the story I was told long ago.UPS was very fond of the H69.When they were told the H was being phased out, they ordered a whole bunch. In the meantime, they aquired a couple F model demostrators and liked them even better than the H models so they canceled the order and Mack was stuck with all theses H69 cabs,so they came up with the H81 & H813 heavy duty mixer chassis to use up the cabs

I only ever seen one picture of a h81 there a vary neet looking truck for sure.
  2. I'm still in the hunt for a Mack MB tractor single or tandem axle. I know these trucks are in most cases shot but hoping somone knows where one is sitting. The truck don't have to be in show condition just have solid sheet metal around the windshield and drip edge around top of cab and hopefuly have a title or some type of paper work to it . I'm looking to spend 2 or 3 grand depending on condition and distance from home. If anyone has any leads let me know. Thanks

zinks dad been driving since the 50s and he always likes to talk about oil trucks and the one day he was telling me about the either balls he said they were like a paint ball you put one in that cap and there was a pin in there then you pushed down popping the ball letting a little either in for a cold start.
  4. It's upside down. That's why it's all bent up. Very common piece. You should be able to find one in any junk yard in PA.

your right I never realized that it was upside down lol . I pulled one off a b61 I stripped but the realized it was real thin in spots.

    Thanks for your imput.

  6. The jake brake from a older 673 would be same and i cant remenber the model.I think it is older model than 675 but dont remenber off hand. Not a 237 because the cam is different.

after I asked that question last night I found a thread asking if a 711 Jake brake would work on a 673 and the guys were saying the 2 valve engines used the same jake. Thanks for.your imput.

Hey Leon I'm on the look out for head gaskets for my 711 also I'm going to stop by a local NAPA store that is vary good with finding stuff like that ill let you know what I come up with. Is there a short video on YouTube of your truck ?
  10. Those first 350's were called a ENDT678 if I remember right, but shortly after renamed as a E6-350.First one I was around was in a '80 Cruiseliner demonstrator that our dealer was passing around to it's customers.

Superdog would any of the Mack v8s fit under my hood and would it bolt to my quad box. I was told it can be done but I would have to use a bigger radiator. Thanks

    Rudy

  11. a 237 is the ENDT675 Maxidyne engine, and while they will work with a Duplex,Triplex,or Quad, they were designed to be used with the 5 and 6 speed Maxitorque transmissions. One of if not the best engine Mack ever designed.

    A 250 is the ENDT673C Thermodyne engine,rated at 250 hp,with a operating range of 1500 to 2100 RPM,these were better suited to the B model transmissions.

Most of the time, what's referred to as a "300" is actually the ENDT676 Maxidyne rated at 283 hp.These had a tip turbine fan and intercooler set up,andlike the 237 were designed to be used with the 5 and 6 speed transmissions. These engines were available starting in 1973.

An actual 300 hp engine was introduced in 1980-81 as the E6-300,this was considered an Econodyne engine, with the front mounted air to air aftercooler.

Thanks superdog for setting me straight on that, I guess if I go with a engine up grade I should look for a end673c those were turbo right ?
