First time doing Mack kingpins on my 94 ch613. What came in my pai kit looks a little different than what’s in my truck. Mainly wondering if this piece with the cross in it in the bottom is to be reused? Is it threaded in or just pressed/drove in? And wondering if I’m ready to drive the old ones out once that bottom piece is out? Only ones I’ve messed with are the ones with the tapered pin and have heard of guys trying to drive those out and forgetting to take those tapered pins out first 😁

Jack stands under the axle beam, then, unscrew the bottom nut. the one with the cross in it. then you can drive the king pin down and out.  I made a tool years ago so that you have have a helper stand 3 feet away and hold a drift pin while you use the sledge hammer. I used a steel pipe and welded an old king pin to it. however in your case any 1'' round stock about 6-8'' long welded on the end will do. then your helper can hold the end of it while you swing the hammer.

Thanks. Yep that’s how we did my Freightliner years ago. For some reason no one wants to hold the drift with their hands 😂

Mack king pins are farely simple. Will you be Removing the spindles, or try to knock the bushings out and in while still hooked to the drag link and tie rod? Just curious..
