Hey guys,

Have been told that the E9 V8 will lock up once the engine is worn . My question is what is the root cause? Lack of oil pressure due to bearing wear? Excessive float between the big end of the conrods creating lateral friction?

The engine in my truck runs well and has good oil pressure but how do I check that it is actually a healthy engine and not worn to the point of potential failure. Ive just bought the truck and the mechanical history is not well tracked.

Thanks fellas

Oil sample! Never seen what you’re talking about ! Sounds  as though you’ve been illenformed ! I have seen v8 drive into the shop with a Broken crank shaft they rarely seize!

How many hours?
