Can anyone tell me if there is a way to check and see what my E6 4V is set to for HP? I'm assuming 350HP. The engine serial Number plate has been wore off so It's unreadable. Was wondering if there is a way to check by maybe looking at the postion of the fuel rack in the injection pump? Not a huge deal if i can't would just be nice to know going forward.

Thanks again everyone.

Door plate tag or Injector pump tag might reveal something if they aren't worn off too. Someone here might be able to decode that injection pump tag but not sure. Best of luck

Thanks @BOBWhite I will get some pictures of the pump and door tag tomorrow.

what are you thinking?  there is some other "printed" info thats not stamped like vlave lash.   Maybe remack? I can find a remark sticker anywhere, if I remember right they put them on the rear valve cover area.

Did you look in the 4Valve book I sent to you, to see if there is info on how to I.D. the engine.? I would open my copy, but we just took that room apart, and all the books in there are in a tote..

I have thumbed through it doesn't give me much on diffrent HP ratings.  I have a feeling I can find more out in a pump book.  I will get some info on the pump tomorrow and do some more research and let you know.

With it been a 9 speed I doubt it's a Maxidyne

Not sure when the Econodyne arrived on the scene, I think it is pretty safe to assume that if it is intercooled from in front of the radiator it is either a 300 or a 350 Thermodyne or Econodyne

Either are good motors and wont disappoint the user thats after a old fashioned mechanical motor with a hairy chest and a decent set of balls

@mrsmackpaul correct me if im work but what I understand the Econodyne was the most the 4v engines. I could be remembering wrong.  I will do some more research on the pump and see if I can find somthing on HP/fuel ratings and let you guys know.

Thanks for your help!

I couldn't advise properly on that as Mack Australia offered a very different line of trucks than the U.S.

I'm fairly certain the Econodyne arrived towards the end of the E6 in Australia

Could still get Maxidyne and Thermodyne in the 4 valve

Not even sure what the difference is between a Thermodyne and Econodyne apart from the name

I only recall seeing Econodyne when the Valueliner arrived on the scene in Australia, thinking 86 onwards for some reason
