I drive a 2001 vision with the vmac iii 427. The truck brakes dont seem to do much work and the trailer I pull seems to be doing the majority of the braking. The pedal seems to be sticky or like it clicks when you step on it. I've adjusted the brakes several times and dont get a lot of extra turns when setting them up. If not for the trailer having abs, it would be locking the trailer brakes and flat spotting the tires. Has anyone else run into this problem and if so, what was your cure to the problem? Thanks.

How old are your drums? (assuming drums not disk). Drum that have seen two sets of shoes are DONE! (One original, when the drum was new and one reline). They make look ok, but are hard and the lining never grips. I always changed drums every other lining change. Makes a huge difference. I assume the same hold true for disks but I have no experience with them.

since the treadle valve supplies air to both truck and trailer, it would be less likely to effect only one of the two. Still the "clicking" should be looked into.

I’m not sure on this but at one point they had a bobtail valve on some tractor apps . T

when the trailer emergency was not in use it would cut the brake pleasure in half under light application!  Just a thought! To test it cap off the emergency and charge the button! If the brakes are improved the you have your answer!

You jogged my memory about those. I had forgotten about that.  Still, they shouldn't come into play with a tractor towing a trailer. Might be malfunctioning tho.
