I took their 4 axle autocar and a 4 axle Rogers to Parkersburg WV to pick up a Tadano Mantis back back in about 1986. Not too long after leaving Parkersburg I was using the jakes and the elbow blew out right below the muffler. Talk about screaming. By the time I got home my ears rang for a week

The 3412 is a beast of an engine for that Bulldog! Shame it's in pieces, I'd love some videos of that beast running. It's like the American equivalent to the last Pacific truck ever made, a P12W3 with a 3412 Cat, built in the parts warehouse. Some interesting videos of the truck being tested after completion on Youtube.

I'm really surprised they got enough cooling under the hood of a RD800 for a 3412. Every 3412 I've ever seen has a huge radiator

I almost looks like it has 4 electric fans in front of the radiator in the picture.

Yeah I blew the picture up and it does look like fans. I'd love to see under the hood

What drive train was used?  I’d think the clutch, transmission and rear end would be overloaded by a 3412.

Agree.  I just discovered this thread because of your post.  I would imagine it had some sort of "slush box" of some sort out of an MX Mack or some other off road truck.
