The engine was a 1978 Mack known as the Champagne Bulldog, as it was christened with a bottle of champagne when it went in service. The first shift I ever drove after I got "passed up" (certified to drive) we caught an apartment fire. Beat DeKalb County into their first alarm territory. One of the best feelings in the world... when you smoke someone else into their own first due box. One of the worst feelings is when someone smokes you into your own.
