Throttle not working after engine brake on

Hi guys,

Long time lurker, first time poster. Hope to get some advice from knowledgeable community here. I have a 1992 CH Mack, with a E7-400 engine in it. It is a little old, and a little worn with few little issues on it. But for most part it just keeps driving. Last couple of days we have experienced a weird issue where generally in higher gear, after using engine break, pressing on throttle does not do anything. There is no engine revs increasing, nothing happening. Then trying ot shift a gear or two and throttle works again. Any suggestions what we may look at? By the way, very basic mechanical skills available, but will try anything.

Cheers

Pump wear. Internal rack is not returning to center. When you shift and change (increase) RPM it’s shaking loose in the governor and giving control back to your foot. I’ve had guys add lubricant to fuel and it nurses it. Dry, low sulfur, fuel isn’t what they were built for.....plus it’s an old rig....run better on a diet of bacon than tofu.

The other question that needs to be asked Here !!  these were offered in a mechanical version as they mutated /  transformed into VMAC ! Is it An electronic or Mechanical engine??? Vmac was started in 93! Could be as simple as a bad micro switch! or relay hanging up! Have also seen on the mech version the throttle lever cause grief if its worn!

Just some thoughts
