Benny Posted October 23, 2017 Share Posted October 23, 2017 I have an 01 granite. New motor has 80,000 miles, truck had 443,000 at time of install. Has excessive blow by and is using or leaking about 1/2 gallon a day (10hrs). Smokes on idle grayish. Please help! Was quoted 14,000 for a motor or 10000 for rebuild. Mack Technician Posted October 24, 2017 Share Posted October 24, 2017 Once you have leaks fixed and turbo inspected build a manometer and measure the blow from the crankcase. If you have 6-8" of blow your heading to the shop. Also check your air intake system for the dust leak that took out your piston rings.
