Now the first thing I gotta say is Im no expert Im just a farmer who fixes his own gear and other peoples some time 

I have been told before by people a lot smarter than me that turbo spins at something like 30,000 to 60,000 rpm so I guess something to think about is its gunna be a lot different than spinning by hand on the bench 

You could also pull the inlet manifold hose  or pipe off and forget the turbo and intercooler and see what happens it still might make some smoke but very little your problem is for sure you have a air restriction just gotta work out which part is restricted
