cxn613 Posted February 9, 2015 Share Posted February 9, 2015 Doing head gaskets on our 1995 427 (has inline injection pump). Anything I should look for or common things to change while this far apart. Pistons have some carbon buildup on them but not much. They also have a white residue carbon if that makes sense. My last quote from Mack ( including New poisons) was about $3,300. I have a buddy had 6 new sleeves, old pistons, new rings an bearings + labor. Was over 8k. Dirtymilkman Posted February 10, 2015 Share Posted February 10, 2015 Be sure to check your liner heights to make sure they're not dropping. cxn613 Posted February 12, 2015 Author Share Posted February 12, 2015 When checking liner height im noticing were the fire ring set there's sort of a groove. The inner groove seems to be around 27 thousandths but when you move indicator back out towards block it drops to 13 thousandths before you get back on block. Any thoughts?
