1981 mack motor

Recommended Posts

The dealer can tell you how that VIN was built.

If you take a look on the front axle near the right king pin there will be a FA with a number and that will be the axle info. Example FA 517.

The engine block will have a number stamped in the casting of the timing chain in front of the injection pump or the back of the block if a cabover. Example ENDT676 or ENDT673C.

It doesn't cost anything to pay attention.

An 81 should have the emissions information plate on the valve cover with the engine rating. As for axles yep just look for tags, if you call your local Mack dealer and talk to an old parts guy they can get you original engine, trans, rears and suspension.
