Adding Air Lines

Recommended Posts

I'm looking at purchasing a 1998 RD tandem dump that doesn't have a pintle or the valve for air to the rear. My question is could the cab valve and plumbing for the air to the rear be added easily and how costly? Is it even worth doing or find a truck that has it already done? What do you guys think?

It is pretty easy to do and not much money. Check with some dump truck operators for a shop in your area.

Not having a pintle or air to the rear shouldn't be a deal breaker if the rest of the truck checks out.

Jim

It doesn't cost anything to pay attention.

It is not a big deal, I have done it for a few guys, I want to say last time I did one parts and labor were under $500. That was just the air lines, not building and installing a pintle plate. A good heavy, properly installed pintle plate is going to be some $$$ the price of steel is up and I would use 1" plate, plus a good HD hook is over $100.
