Planning on new head gasket for my 58 B61 with 711 engine. what do i need to know to be sure that i order the right part and also a parts source.

Thanks, Victor

Victor,

You may want to try Watt's Truck Center on this site first. Or several other options are: www.olsonsgaskets.com phone number is 360-871-1207 M thru F 8 a.m. till 4p.m. PST. or I went with Vintage Engines and Machine Mr. Mike Meuler phone #208-651-1161

I hope this helps!

I called Watts and they dont have them in stock but can get them. They need to know if it takes 18 or 20 studs dont know if i can count them with valve covers and everthing else in the way. Thanks

victor

Those heads have to come off sometime to get those gaskets on. This is the sure way to know since the early heads had 18 studs and the later heads had 20. 20 studs and 2 sizes on the corners were bigger 3/4 studs.

I realize the heads have to come off to replace the gaskets but i want all the parts ahead of time as i want my truck back in service pdq.

I think it has the 20 stud gasket because two of the corners has two studs close together. Just wanting to order the right parts the first time.

I dont have any serious problems with the engine just a broken manifold stud.

Thanks, Victor
