Found this cool 1940 GMC truck with 5th wheel on Craigslist. $1500 just add your drivetrain. I have a rebuilt Chevy 305 in my garage. It would cool to pair that up with an automatic and make a fun hobby rig and tow a gooseneck car trailer with it.

Boy, As you said, this would make a nice truck to tow a car trailer!! But I think a nice Cummins with a 6 speed out of a Dodge 3500 would fit right in there, any way you skin this one, it still would make a cool runner!!

That'd be really cool with the Cummins and 5 speed. I'd given that combo a lot of thought for my '57 GMC dump truck before I decided to sell it. It'd work out great for a truck like that, especially with a little "tuning".
