St. Maarten

I was on the island of St. Maarten a few weeks ago. For a small island there were quite a few Mack trucks; "R", "CH", "DM", and" Granite" models. They were

mostly tractors and dump trucks. No Mack fire trucks but the French side, St. Martin, had several fire trucks built on Renault chassis.

When I was down there in 2000 there were Mack trucks all over the place. Probably more Mack than any other heavy truck that was american built. I also remember the Renault trucks as they were also common.

We were there on a cruise and visited St. Maarten for a "port of call" had a lot of fun once they let me on the sailboat. There was conversation due to my size and they didn't seem to want me to go.

They tell you to keep in the middle and don't look over the side as you may over load the one side?

It was an open bow and with they had me and "Momma" in the front and eight others in the back offsetting the weight. We were in the middle come to think of it. They spoke french so was hard for me to understand.

Still on St. Maarten. The only thing I do worse than photography is trying to post pictures online. Close your eyes and think about what white Mack

"R"s and "Granites" look like and there's your photos. It was a vacation; took a walk on Orient Beach!!
