Anyone know what the idle speed of a maxadyne 237 is supposed to be, and if there is an easy way to adjust it?Mine is only at 500 rpm now and it sucks trying to move the truck around cause it stalls so easy unless you give it throttle. thanks

About 650rpm. There are setting screws on the side of the accelerator arm. One is for high idle speed, the other for low. I'd get a book on how to adjust however.

Get a 7/16" spanner and crack off the tall looking nut with the adjuster screw in it behind the throttle arm, on th back section of the fuel pump. I cant think off the top of my head but I think you turn the adjuster screw clockwise to increase the idle. Then just tighten the lock nut up when you get your desired idle. Cheers, Skip.

We had a similar problem years ago after the Fuel Pump had been serviced. On some of the spec Sheets the idle fuel setting was too low and they used to stall when you stopped at the lights. When you got the Idle fuel lifted a bit in the pump they were good. Best regards - Michael.

I got it to idle up to 600 rpm today, it made a big difference. I wanted to get it to 650 but the bolt isnt long enough, theres only 3/4 of the locknut threaded onto the bolt now as it is.

Chances are the arm, or the apparatus inside the governor the arm controls has wear not allowing sufficient adjustment. If you've not replaced the spring arm the throttle linkage attaches to, this might be a good idea as they do wear although you can't tell by looking at it.

That is common for the head of the screw to wear down were the throdle arm rides on it.
