Glad to hear you enjoyed the tour. I too had the privilege of having Roy as one of my tour guides and he was definitely one of if not the best one I had. I am a bit jealous though, because it sounds like you saw quite a few awesome trucks. There is only one downside to a guided tour...no pictures.

I know exactly the noise you're referring to. I'd say 99% of Mack straight trucks I hear going over a bump make this noise. But I too have no idea why.

Here are a few pictures I took when I was at Macungie this year. They are nice looking trucks, they just need chrome bumpers, 11R tires, and a radio!.

I'll be there. Wouldn't miss it for anything.

I heard on Saturday that the new Mack motors are made by Volvo. Does anybody know if there is any truth to that???? I hope this is not true!!!
Unfortunately they are. There are some brand specific differences between the Volvo D11/Mack MP7, Volvo D13/Mack MP8, and Volvo D16/Mack MP10 but they share the same block. There are other shared components between Volvo and Mack as well, besides the engine.

Update as of 4/15/10, the maroon Titan is set to be a dump truck. It's currently at the body company with the hoist cylinder attached, and is waiting for its box to arrive. I can't wait to see it when its complete.

The Pelleier's will be visiting the plant on next weeks show to see their truck(s) built.
-
I want to know the same thing as well. I'm curious though as to how they are going to fit in taking delivery of two new trucks when they constantly seem to stress "times are tough, times are tough". Unless thats how they are going to celebrate the opening of their restaurant.
-
I believe the maroon Titan has also been sold. It has been removed from their inventory, and is now sitting at a local truck equipment company. I'm anxious to see what it comes out as...
Also, I heard the there is a "factory rebate", on the new 2011 Titans.

My mack dealer salesman Claude Thiboutot sent me pics of the Titan.. he was with the driver for this load, suppose to be a workhorse and Cat nightmare enjoy before the tv show!
Thanks for sharing! Its a tough looking truck. I was hoping to see floats on the front, but that was wishful thinking seeing how none of their other trucks have them.

Those are priceless!

It all depends on how you interpret the model year. The show truck was built in late 2008 to be showcased at the Con-Expo in March 2009. Technically it is a "2008", but its a 2009 model year. The same applies to the Titan's for sale at the dealers. They are technically "2009"s, but they are 2010 model years. It really depends on how the dealer chooses to list it, but more so whatever the VIN number says it is. If a particular Titan was built early enough, its VIN number might list it as a 2009.
And yes, the maroon Titan is still in Scranton.

Just figured I'd update this thread. As of 12/15/09, the maroon Titan is still on the lot in Scranton, and I have received "official" word so to speak, that the blue Titan was delivered.

I've gone every year for 6 years straight, I could spend all day there.

Still in business, according to the latest news...

For more shots of Mack trucks evolving between Montréal and Quebec City... (including some spot-checks on Mack Ste-Foy's parking lot, check this forum out ;-) Sorry it is in French, but the pictures are self-explanatory ;-) You can find me there too under the same nickname.

Thanks for sharing that! I like the orange Titan.

The first 1000 CXU / CHU's built in Macungie.
Dave
Ahh ok, I had a feeling it had something to do with that. Thanks for clearing that up.
You think they would have made it a little more "commemorative" though and only put them on the first 100. 1,000 seems like alot, but I guess thats Volvo for you...

Hi guys,
I spotted this new Pinnacle at the dealer the other day, and it had "Pedigree 1000" badges on each side of the hood. Any idea what they signify?

Saw a blue Titan sitting at Coventry Transport all lettered up with no plates on it.The town of Coventry is not that far from Binghamton. I will try to snap a pic next time I go by.
Nice, they must have taken it then. The blue one in question (shown below) had "Coventry Transport" on the build paper in the window.
-
Any word on the blue Titan in Binghamton? I noticed its been removed from the TruckPaper inventory. Could they have sold it?
As of today, the maroon and white ones are still in Scranton.
-
I will miss visiting the World Headquarters every year...
-
Its been a long time since an update on this post. Well as of 8/15/09 the Blue Titan is still sitting on the lot at Binghamton N.Y. Mack and not working. Also as of 8/07/09 the White and Maron Titan still sit on tthe Scranton Pa Mack lot and not working. Maybe if they would lower the price on them they might be able to sell them. I still have not seem a Titan out on the road doing work or even sold! There just sitting on all the mack lots looking pretty and not getting dirty.
Terry
As of 8/13/09 both the maroon & white ones are still at Scranton.

Hi guys,
For those of you that toured the plant this summer, did any of you notice the large number of Cummins engines in the plant?
It was to my understanding that Mack no longer offered any Cummins engines after the '07 Emissions Regs took effect.
Unfortunately I didn't notice any completed trucks with these engines to see where they were going.
Are these the engines Mack is using for their Natural Gas or Methane Gas powered trucks?

That's what it let on to believe, I left the magazine at work so I'll have to check the exact wording tomorrow.
It reads: "A short 42-inch compartment is the only sleeper option now offered." HDT

The white Titan is now back at the dealer in Scranton.
