UPS also has Sterlings with the traditional paint scheme.

Yeah, me too. Were in for 10-16+ here in NEPA. Like you said Barry, I'll believe it when I see it.

Well let me start by saying that my Mack dealer is the one you mentioned in Scranton, Pa and they too have sold a ton of trucks over the past year, probably 10+to Bolus Freight in the last few months. My Volvo dealer dosen't sell nearly as many trucks as Mack either. But getting to your question, i remember when Volvo first bought Mack, i read that they would be combining some dealerships since Volvo is strong for highway applications and Mack is strong for vocational. I also think it may have to do with expanding Volvos/Macks dealership network and it was just easier to add the Mack franchise to an existing Volvo dealer than build a new one or vise versa.

This may be slightly off topic, but when Volvo owned part of Blue Bird buses, they actually hepled Blue Bird design a better Vision (Blue Birds convetional bus).
This was Blue Birds design (2003-2007): http://c.myspace.com/Groups/00015/30/90/15740903_l.jpg
And this was Volvo's (2008): http://c.myspace.com/Groups/00019/32/98/19208923_l.jpg

I look at it this way, (and please forgive me if someone already said this, but I did't have time to read all the replies), Volvo bought Mack for their powertrain and theres nothing we can do about it, unless we all group together and buy all of Volvo's stock. We just have to continue to show our support for Mack inorder to show Volvo how much we value the Mack name and what it stands for here in America. Hopefully Volvo will or does know this and won't drive Mack into the ground as they did Autocar and White/Gmc. All we can do is hope...and pray.

Hey, Its a new truck, well at least it was when the pic was taken. I found it on the internet a few years ago.
Anyway,
No. The next person has heard good things about the MP engine series.

I thought it would be fun to start a little game called the Next Person Game. I’m not sure if one was already started or not, but here's a new one. For those of you who haven’t done anything like this, here’s how it works.
I’ll ask a yes or no question and the next person will answer it and ask a new yes or no question. For example, if I ask “The next person would love to have a new Mack Granite”. The next person to respond could say: “Yes. The next person has a Mack B-61”. And so on.
So here’s the question:
The next person drives a Mack truck for a living.

I am near Pittston, but this was a blue tri-axle log truck.

Speaking of power, according to one of the compaines who test drove a Pinnacle with the 395hp MP7 mentioned in Heavy Duty Trucking, that it climbed hills faster than their 427hp E7s.

How popular was the R-700? I saw my first one today. Unless i saw it wrong as i passed it on I-81, it looked to me like a long-nose R-model.

Well first off, the CL is no longer in production. But in regards to Mack engnies, the new Mack and Volvo engines share the same block; however, all the "trinkets" on a Volvo engine are Volvo, and all the "trinkets" on a Mack engine are Mack. Both engines are made in Maryland.

I found this one, hope it helps.

I'm glad to see the MR(TerraPro) is available with higher horsepower becasue I imagine those 7-axle concrete pumpers must have been tough to move with only 400.

I found this site about a Hybrid Granite, not sure if you guys have seen it or if there is a topic on already, but here it is anyway.

That version of the 460 goes up to 487 horsepower.

I really can't see Volvo phasing out Mack due to the amount of people who buy a truck for the Mack name. I would hope that Volvo would realize thay by phasing out Mack they would loose too many customers.
In regards to the small offset lettering, I actually like it, at least its better than the Vision which only had Mack on the small emblem in the "V" (Volvos way of putting their name on Mack) on the hood. Also, isn't the small offset lettering only on the Pinnacle?
-
The only "down-under" Macks that I like are the Vision and Value-Liner. The rest look too foreign for me.
-
Please do not be mad, but I do NOT like the looks of the Macks from "down under"(except the Vision/CXU look-alike). I would probably take a Volvo over a "down-under" Mack. That's just my opinion though, I like all of the American Macks (CTP713/GU7 being my favorite).

New River Valley is the Volvo plant, but it is also the home of Mack highway products(Vision, Pinnacle, and CH). Here's the link: http://macktrucks.com/default.aspx?pageid=7

Use Mozilla Firefox, its much safer and has few problems. You can get it at www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/ if you don't already have it (its free). The only downfall is it can't always play videos(it depends on format), but I have no problems on BMT. If you don't want Firefox, try downloading Internet Explorer 7. Hope this helps

Making the Intergral Sleepr an option on the Granite would mean changing the assembly plant(s). The assembly plant in Macungie does not produce any trucks with sleepers so the cab lines would need adjustment, and the New River Valley plant does not produce any Granites, so both the chassis and cab lines would need modification. = $$$

Thanks, are the GU model tags going to replace the CTP...? I also thought the CXP(Pinnacle) was the replacment for the Vision, or are these current tags being used until the MP8 becomes available?
-
I was just wondering when the following trucks/componets are set to come out or be discontinued:
CHU
MRU
LEU?(not sure if the LE is changing model names or not)
CL
Vision
CV/CT
MP8 Engine
MP10 Engine

A block company near me has a late model (I'm guessing 92-98) Peterbilt 378/379 tri axle dump with 8-hole 24.5 steel rims for the drive axles.

If Freightshakers are so bad, why are they so popular? Is just becasue they're cheap?
