I think that in order for Mack to survive they need to remain price competetive as I belive some of you had said. I see very few large trucking companies who buy Mack trucks, I imagine its becasue Freightliners are cheaper. There are two companies around me who buy almost all Macks and they are Kane and Bolus; however, I noticed that Bolus does have a few Columbias. They did buy several new Visions this year though, some of which are still at the dealer. I hope they continue to support Mack and don't give way to Freightliners.

I'm not very familiar with the mechanical workings of an engine and have been hearing the terms reman and remaned used a lot. I was wondering what exactly is a reman engine.

They were there along with 2 old FWDs and a Ford L8000? dump. I have more pictures of the Macks and FWDs if any one wants to see them.

I took pics of these two old Macks today; however, I have no clue what models they are. I'm only up-to-speed on current models. I was wondering if you guys could help me out?

If i had a CDL and knew i'd have the chance to drive a Granite, I'd consider it. I live about 68 miles away so it would be a haul everyday.

yea, maxidyne237 is right. i've seen a Grantie with a navy blue cab and bright yellow chassis. it was weird looking.

i've seen a lot of Macks with red frames, new and old. I know the new ones are painted that way at the factory.

Ah, i understand now, thanks. I guess thats what 1st gear is for on the Allison 4700RDS 7spd auto. 1st gear is manually selected.

What exactly is a "low hole"? I've heard and seen that term used everywhere.

a guy at the mack assembly plant 2 yrs ago(2004) told me production was stopped becasue there wasn't a high demand for them. They were made in France and the cab was shared with i think 3 other mfgs. such as D.A.F. I believe.

The boss will know next time not to park within the reach of the excavator, lol.

Has anyone ever hear of having a Mack 10M (10 forward 6 reverse gears) transmission in a Vision? My dealer has a used 04 Vision spec'd this way and I was wondering if it is common.

I agree with you on one thing, Mack's new literature is nothing but glossy pictures; however, I belive that is due to the fact that all components of the Granite CTP are not available yet. For example, the MP8 engine won't be availabe untill some time early next year; therefore, there can't be an accurate list of options. I'm sure its nothing a Mack salesman couldn't straighten out.

Was the HT-740 a 4 speed? Anyway, it seems like the HT-740 was a hit; however, how about the newer heavy duty transmissions like the HD4060/4560 or 4000/4500 RDS.

Also, has anyone ever seen or heard of anyone using the Allison 4700RDS seven speed auto?

I'm glad to hear some of you like them, I would spec an Allison when I buy a truck-mainly because I haven't learned how to drive a manual yet. Unfortunatly they're not popular in my area only beacause you have to go far away to have them worked on and they're an $18,000 option. My dealer did just get on in last week, its for a fire truck I'm told, it is a 2007 Mack CTP713B.

How can you tell if they're tube type tires? I've never been able to figure it out.

I was just wondering what you guys think of having auto transmissions in heavy trucks such as tri axle dumps or even tractor-trailer applications?
