  1. Walked out the door towards the pool and several young girls started to screaming and dispersed like cockroaches when you turn on the lights!! Then their mothers started yelling obscenities at me from across the courtyard. Some of the things mother's will say in front of their daughter's is beyond me. Such a shame to "poison" the minds of our youth with such garbage, I'll tell you. The hotel manager then appeared and asked me to "put" a bathing suit on if I was going to use the public pool as was their policy, or I would have to leave the hotel. "Geez", I say. people are so unreasonable sometimes.

My first assumption was they didn't t appreciate the expanse of a man of my size before them; but maybe it was the double sized, soft sided burrito visciously attacking my throat through my mouth that offended them, lord only knows. I didn't even get to dispense with my excellent poolside manners as the courtyard emptied too quickly.

Spoke with a couple of board members this afternoon and laying out plans for a small "get together". I was able to squeeze in a 1/2 case of each Phillips, "Milk of Magnesia", and "Pepto-Bismal", so we should be covered for any event. I never touch the stuff myself but I'm accustomed to Momma's burnt on the edges, raw in the middle cooking style. With only two opposing teeth, I have to go slow or cut stuff into small enough chunks it will slurp up through a straw to eat.

If you decide to go to the pool again today take a speedo and see if you get a better reaction. FYI-Don't take any Baby Ruth's with you, that would be almost the same as yelling "FIRE" in a packed movie theater.

  2. I have had a auto elec check the air con high pressure switch which was replaced by the dealer. he said the switch and wiring was all ok but I proberly should get it checked again .Thanks

Check the terminals in the connector on the harness and the wiring too. I've replaced quite a few of the connectors and terminals lately because they weren't making contact properly.

  3. Well I could never figure how to remove cup holder, tried prying and pushing out the plugs in bottom of cup holder. Well now I know why they looked

like plastic plugs. I scraped them and found 2 torx screws. Reason why they always looked like plugs is because that bottom part is water tight.

I removed top and found out, where my coffee went. :pat::lol:

At least it was only coffee and you knew where it came from. As for myself, I've become accustomed to "spit cans" and their related spillage.

  4. Arrived in Raleigh about 1/2 hour ago. It's hot but not near as steamy as the car ride over. I'm in room 204 of the Comfort Suites at 4400 Capitol BLVD. The number is 919-876-2211.

Seems like I get to live a little "higher on the hog" than I'm accustomed to for the next five days. Hell, I don't even have to wade in the creek to take a bath here.

Just be sure that if you go swimming in the pool that you do it BEFORE eating chili dogs, don't want to get any cramps, and the other motel patrons might not like a Rob powered bubble bath. Have a good time out there.

  5. have 1999 ch fitted with a 470 e7 etec engine. having trouble with the fan engauging every time I use the accellerator pedal then most times it will disengauge when take foot off pedal .the dealer has had 3 goes at fixing it they have replaced the vechicle ECM ,air solanoid ,water temp senser , manifold temp senser ,air con switches .this problem has no relation to water temp.regards hoping someone else has come across this problem.

Check the air conditioner high pressure switch connector in the engine compartment for a loose connection. I have gotten new fan solenoids that were bad before.

  6. 2 haitian gentleman approached me today and asked if they could look at my superliner dump 1987. I said ok but dont touch anything in the cab. They had me open the hood and they checked it out and were surprised how nice the truck was and it was cold inside also. The stereo was playing a tobey kieth song i think and they had no idea what was up with that. they asked me if i would sell it and i asked what their plans were first before i answered them. they said it was going to be shipped to haiti to work on the earth quake. I started picturing 5 haitians trying to figure out how to start and stop this thing and most of all how to shift the 12 speed air shifter  after a couple of minutes, i gave them my card and said call me later that i will think about it.

    so in the end whatayado??

    Laugh maniacally at them?

  7. nancy boys-over 80 at 5 am every day here. mid 90 and humid every day. been like that since june and won't it change until Oct.

If'n we get a ' cane, it gets worse as the A/C in the house won't work. I be working 12-15 hr days $$$$$$$$$

Thermometer in the back yard, in the shade, currently reads 102

  8. When I'm pulling up through the gears all of a sudden it is like you shut off the key just for a second and then back on.Does it so fast you cant even get your foot off the fuel so it jerks like crazy when it does it.Put new air and fuel filters on and still does it.No codes and no faults. What do I need to check next????

Check the ground connections on the batteries, at the starter, engine block ground, frame rail ground, alternator ground, cab ground breaker, and the left side cab ground for loose or bad connections. If everything is ok in those areas you may have a power relay (to the left of the cab fuse panel there is a row of 4 relays) that is going bad.

  9. From the looks of it, getting the fan switch out, and replacing will take awhile. Any pointers for taking center lower section apart?

It's an '01 CH. There are no visible screws or bolts without taking the dash all apart. I see 4 all the way underneath back by firewall.

Could anyone get a hold or diagram dash lower center disassemble?

    Thanks for the help.

You'll need to remove the cup holder from the front of the HVAC cover, there are two hidden screws under it. On the bottom of the cover there is a small plastic locating tab that you will have to slide the cover off of to get it off.

  10. The most comon fuel in oil thing is injector orings , they get hard over time they can leak back up and by the hold down screw as well as previously described .as for the liner leak ,I beleive the liners orings were done away with long before 92 ,

That's what I was thinking, but they temporarily used them again on some early E-Techs.

  11. I have a 92 CH613 with a 400 E-7 that we use as a farm truck. The truck had been trouble free for many years, then two years ago we had to have the head gaskets changed. The head gasket blew out between the heads and hot exhaust was coming out between the heads. After the head gaskets were changed the truck was great for the last two years, then a few weeks ago I noticed more blow by than usual coming from the breather tube. I checked the oil level and it was a little over full. I was at the end of my oil change so I dropped the oil and pulled a oil sample. I sent the oil to Blackstone Labs and they found 1.1% anifreeze in the oil but they also found 9.0% fuel. The copper, lead, and tin levels were also well above normal standards. I pulled a water sample the other day and it was within specs for additives. I know it is very possible that I have a leaking O-ring around one or more cylinder sleeves and that is more than likely my source of antifreeze, but how am I getting so much fuel in the oil. I only put about 4000 miles per year on this truck and I need it for harvest in a few weeks. On the advice of the Blackstone technician I am going to run the truck with the fresh oil change and pull another sample after harvest. After changing oil the other day I took the truck for a 5 mile drive, after sitting for a few days I checked the oil level again and it is almost a inch above the full mark. The water level has not gone down any so it has to be fuel in the oil. Where could the fuel be coming from? None of the injector lines are leaking where they go into the heads. Any help would be great...Thanks!

Sounds like it may be time to pull the pan and check some bearings! The fuel might be coming past the lower injector o-rings which would wash fuel down the cylinder rather than leak from the high pressure fuel line. As for the coolant content in the oil, I can't remember exactly when they stopped using o-rings on the liners in production, but at some point the liner o-ring was replaced with a bead of silicone applied to the counterbore. Over time the silicone can deteriorate. You may have an eroded counterbore allowing coolant to slip past the OD of the liner. Before worrying too much about that I would check the injectors, o-rings, etc as these won't require too much time to check.

  12. Hi Fred, wouldn't the insulators be about beat to snot to allow the plates to rattle? I've never heard the sounds mentioned but sure have a lot of driveline noise.

    Rob

Hi Rob. I think fjh may be right. I've never noticed the noise referred to, but most of our trucks carry tire chains year round. The "T" blocks are more or less a means of limiting the travel of the spring side to side. The lighter suspension setup (I think only the SS34 but maybe the SS38 too) doesn't use the blocks.

  13. Mackpro68 - Would you happen to know what model they use? Perhaps an HX40, HX50, or HX55?

rhasler - Have the specs for the MP series changed between EPA07 and EPA10? I don't see any indication of this on the Mack site. I've been working on gathering info for Cummins stock turbos as well, but unfortunately I do not have any info for the ISX. Still waiting on Cummins to get back to me... but I'm guessing something between HX50-60.

See Mackpro's response. Boost is supposed to stay the same, however I have never seen a published spec for the boost pressure so I can't tell you what it was supposed to be in the first place. The US10 turbos have several, shall we say, "design improvements".

  14. Well it is def not that quick release but I did do some more fooling around and when you have the trailer brakes realesed they dont stay on so that tells me that the tp valve is good but the air is releasing through the trailer service valve that is not right. What valve does it release through when you are bobtail the r12 valves and the foot valve right .I think I have a bad new foot valve maybe I am wrong I have been before

If you look at the diagram you can see the there is a line going from the "T" near that quick release valve to the spring brake control valve on the "C" port. If you disconnect that line at the spring brake valve and check to see which side the air is coming from (valve side or line side) it might help it narrow down. You should be able to do the same thing with the R12 valve. It wouldn't be the first time a new part was bad out of the box.

  15. Yep , thats them. We had a small Cummins engine in the other day and it had the same turbo on it as the MP's. Of course our MP turbo's from Mack in a Cummins box! The first MP-7 (non-DPF) turbo's had a problem with the impeller nut spinning off but that has now been fixed. The turbo center section is water and oil cooled and the VGT/actuator is also water cooler. The MP7 turbo to exhaust manifold gasket had a normal looking turbo gasket but the MP8 turbo gasket had a very small hole/ block off plate in it (?????). Never seen a MP10.

I think the ISX uses the same basic turbo as the MP10. On the Mack US10 emission engines the turbos are supposed to have different internals than the US07's did, so I would guess that the Cummins version of the turbo might be different from the Mack version but I'm not sure.

  16. stemco kaiser has a king pin kit for sale for sure, kit # k536m. it is a complete kit for the axle, you wont find it on line but have to contact them for one or one of there distributers in your area. i have one in my truck now and it is super easy to install. it was cheaper than mack also with 4 times the warrany and if it lasts as long as the rest of there king pins & bushings you should never have to change them again, as long as you grease them regularly.

    I'll check it out, thanks.

  17. Thanks everyone for your input. It comes down to my driving. :pat: When fuel spiked, I changed my driving habbits. Well today I let loose on some down hills, with rpms above 1800 and it works fine. Lately I've been trying to top my best mpg. Now with new cam and tune up kit running hard today I got 7.1 mpg with 3000gal.@ 46000# net. loaded oneway.

So thanks agian for your input. :notworthy:

So is the engine brake is working good? How much improvement over before?

  18. Besides dropping pan,how invovled is replacing the pump? I've built many gas engines, anything similar?

Basically three bolts hold the pump to the engine, two bolts hold the suction tube to the pump. Part number from SB 219-008 is 315GC466M, part number may change to a WID#, so make sure they look the pump up and give you the right one.

  19. my truck always has the check trans deal on the dash. transmission is fine. it'll go off by itself sometimes and sometimes it stays on all day long. really annoying. is there somehow to just make it not buzz anymore even if the lights stay?

What's the model and year of the truck?
