  1. I know that this might sound crazy but are you sure the noise is coming from the trany and not one of the rears most likely the front rear.I once had a six speed that I thought was blown it made a heck of a racket but only when you let off or down shifted, turned out to be the front rear.

  2. I think bigdog is talking about going from four six volt to two 12 volt for a total of two batteries, you can do that I've used just two 12 volt in my plow truck witch was an old dm and it started fine even in very cold weather,if it's a truck that you are gonna use every day your better of with four batteries, they will last longer, for a play truck you'll be fine with two.

  3. Thanks to everyone for all the input,I'm pretty sure I,m gonna go with the dynaflex rather then try to stick something in the pipe,I know the dynaflex will fit in the limited space I have and it will quiet it down a little, maybe just enough to make driving the truck more enjoyable while still having a nice sound to it.I still have a few more things to do to the truck before work starts but when I get to the exhaust I'll post back here with a few pictures and let you all know what I think of the dynaflex.Rob I agree the muffler with a nice guard and chrome top stack looks great,I just don't have room to fit the muffler.

  4. Rob, you can go with straight pipes if you want,I love the look of the crome straight pipes but driving all day the noise gets to be annoying especially in a dump truck with all the stop and go and accelerating thru the gears thats why i was looking at the dynaflex it's got that nice clean look of a straight pipe, but I can't find any info on the actual sound reduction,I might have to take a chance and order one and hope for the best.

  5. We installed the GrandRock QP internal mufflers in our 6" exhaust. It has a good sound but not too loud.

Thanks for the info, but what is a qp internal muffler, never heard of them,do they add a lot of back pressure, thats what Im looking for not to loud. Also could you tell me how much they cost. Thanks

  6. Doe's anyone here have any experience with dynaflex mufflers,I'd like to hear your thoughts on the sound reduction of these mufflers as compared to a straight pipe,I'm running a straight single 5 inch pipe on my 96 cll only because there is not enough room for a regular muffler between the cab and the dump body and I'm not real crazy about installing anything under to cab. Thanks in advance for any help.

  7. Can I ask why anyone would use motoroil instead of lighter transmission fluid. I realize the weight is heavier with motoroil but ATF has always been a magical fluid for any temperature extreme. Looks like the motoroil would have to be changed more frequent and have more problems with heat exchange or cleanliness.

    Thanks

I can't answer that question but when I bought my first truck many years ago a 1970 DM800 the owner told me to use motor oil for the power steering, the guy owned a pretty big truck Co so I figured he knew what he was talking about, never, had a problem with it,and never replaced the pump, I ran that truck for 15 years. So I still use it today in all my trucks.

  8. First you have to remember the trans gears are always spinning the faster the truck is going the faster the gears are spinning,to down shift you need to raise the rpm of the engine to match the tran speed, when you get it just right the gears will mesh together. Practice makes perfect :)

  9. You guys kill me,you can't get blood from a stone, leave it alone if you want more power buy a bigger motor. The 237 is a sweet running motor and maybe the best motor mack ever built, thats just my opinion and I ran a 237 for a number of years and was very happy with it's performance.
