All G's have that stub on the hub cap. Left foot goes there first, right foot on the step at the left rear of the cab then the left foot all the way up into the cab. The stirrup step cuts that distance down by 8 inches and is much safer for us old guys.
Damn,I never thought getting into a truck could be that complicated..

What’s the deal with that hub is to step up on also?

Friends,
We rolled Skippy out the shop this week! We converted all the old tires and split wheels (which nearly put my husband over the edge as we really don't have proper equipment to break them down efficiently). There was a lot of cursing and ultimately torch cutting and then a lot more cursing getting the "new" (used) tires on the "new" (used) wheels. Still a few details to attend to and lots more that could be done, but we may have finally reached the "let's just drive her for a while" stage of the project. Spring may finally be here in northern Vermont, at least the sun is shining today, so we took her for a good long drive. I put in about 90 minutes behind the wheel on the back roads, getting comfortable driving the old girl. I feel much better about getting her started and shifting up through the gears. I've got some work to do with timing my down shifting. It's giving my brain a good work out! My husband is a saint and a patient teacher–and he just left to go fishing (he may or may not come back 🤣)
Skippy got a lot of attention going down the road today - I think she looks pretty sharp!
Looks great, one thing I learned about mounting tires, use a quality tire lube and lots of it,the difference is like night and day..enjoy your ride..

Rumor has it 2 terminals in the Port of Albany ran out Saturday. My local station went from 4.99-5.99 M-F and then to 6.49 yesterday. Say there is a shortage??? I'm sure Dementia Joe wasn't talking about it while he was the Belle of the Ball last night.
I read somewhere online the gulf refineries are shipping most of the diesel to Europe and where running out, that’s some chit 🤷♂️

I don't believe in fuel surcharges. First, you add a fuel surcharge and the customer will, expect you to lower it as soon as the price changes, second, high fuel prices raise the price of EVERYTHING including your cost of living. If you only raise your rate by the increase in fuel you are using you are going backwards. I set my rate at what I need which include the present price of fuel and all of the added cost of living and doing business associated. Just use the same formula you used to set your rate before just using your current costs and cost of living.
Agree will just keep upping my rates that’s what most companies are doing around here..

What's going on, is the intentional destruction of the core of our great country!!! The lib news talks about the issues, product shortages, high rent, high food prices, high fuel prices, and all of of us white people are racist... And they love every minute of it.. They are fueling the fire that is burning us to the ground.. FJB, and K.H. and N.P. and Mayorkas , and so many more.... dammit, I get so pissed off !!... Jojo
Yup and not a peep on the news tonight about these incredible fuel prices..

Macks I didn’t see this until this evening. They came and went. It was just one guy. He took a grinder and cut a slit below the Trunnion bar in the stand. He then drove a couple of small chisels into those cuts. He then cut the bar right behind the stand on both sides. Took a 20lb sledge and knocked out both side. He then took the new Trunnion bar and slicked it up and we put it in one side of stand and drove it thru the other side. He welded everything up and was gone. Took him 2 hours.

Cheapest diesel here on Long Island NY is now 6 bucks, some stations are up to 6.79 and I’m sure the rest will follow, how high can it go and why?
-
Right now it’s costing me over a thousand a week for fuel in my dump truck, anybody have a formula for a fuel surcharge,no way I can absorb this cost..
-
Just paid 5.80 a gallon what the heck is going on,gas is not increasing but diesel is going up 20 to 30 cents a day,any body have a clue ?

I did inspect the bushings and they were not worn all the way thru. I’m like you guys this isn’t the original Trunnion stand. The bar looked really good just those threads were gone on one end. Yes everything is new on rear suspension and I’m talking everything. Replacing brakes while I’m back there. These guys are out of Little Rock which is central Arkansas and I’m down in SW Arkansas about 130 miles from them. They quoted 1800.00
If you can snap a few photos of them doing the job,it would be interesting to see..

I hope he bought new saddles and ubolt sets... and the thrust washers, inner seals, jam nuts and caps... jojo
New is the way to go especially if the bushings were worn all the way thru, have to measure the bar also to see if it’s within spec..
