We had a complete 89 Dodge 4x4 cummins truck so I took what we needed off of it.The booster/mastercylinder was from the cummins truck.We took the motor,tranny and front and rear axles from the 89...Jim

Had to hold off on the Mack because my sons wouldnt help till I painted the old Dodge.Ive been driving her about three years now since we dropped in the Cummins and never found time to paint her till this fall.I cant wait to start on the Mack...Jim

I got my package from Mack museum today and this is some neat stuff.Two trucks were ordered for Elmer C. Breuer transportation 5/63,built in Allentown and delivered to Cleveland 7/63.Ive got the first one #44638 and it has a end673P,TRT720,CRD 117/5:78 ratio,10:00x22 tires and FA 517 front axle with SG 26 str.gear.Its interesting that where it says MPH required it has 57 crossed out and 66 typed in...with that tranny,rear end,tall tire combo could it go 66 mph?Anyway, what a nice package they put together for me and Im going to be sending a nice donation to them.I really enjoy the old trucks and the history that goes with them and I thank you for telling me about the museum....Jim

Went out this morning and started her up after sitting for a few days...listening to her run and checking for leaks I was overcome by this crazy "I should know better urge" but I backed her out on the road anyway and took her for a quick test run.That was so neat now I want more......Jim

Hey...watch it buddy...It would run 50 down hill???It had 5:83s so we put 11:00x16s on it to pick up a few mph.Now the red 41 came with 4:89s/9:00x16s so it will run 55 easy...the pic is my son Steve arriving at the prom in the old Dodge...Three of my boys drove it to there prom...Jim

We have had some Dodge powerwagons over the years.The green one was a 66 WM300 we had for quite a while and still have the red 41 and the 64 crewcab.The pic of truck and trailer was at the Vintage power wagon rally last year...1400 miles round trip...my 64 has a cummins 6bt in it...now if I could just get it painted...Jim

Hey everybody,our next to youngest boy graduated college Saturday so Im finally done with that "honey do list" getting ready for the party...now I can work on the Mack again.I went over everything again before I pumped it up and guess what...the one line I didnt check before,the return line,I could not blow air thru it...took the fuel cap loose,blew again and its clear...yep vent tube clogged.Bullhusk called it... so I cleaned the vent tube(that was hard to get to)bled it again like Mike said and she started right up and this time kept running.I let her run and when I came back from walking into the house for some water,she was still running ,had 90 lbs air and the wipers were working.I pinched off the RR brake line (leaking) with vise grips and it built up to 120lbs.I guess Im amazed that after sitting all those years everything still works or is at least trying to work.I backed off the brakes a little as the shoes were stuck to the drums and now it has some brakes.Worst part is the brake pedal was frozen so Ive been using PB blaster on it.If that had been free I would have at least run it down the road and back...boy was it tempting...Thanks Jim

Been laying under the truck for no apparent reason just looking around,scraping some grease off and realized that everything underneath is orange,frame,axles,springs,tranny,bumper,wheels all orange except for the sheet metal and that was green.I sent to the Mack museum so maybe they will tell me what company ordered it in green and orange.I love old trucks and old trucking companies and have a neat old photo album that my mom put together when dad drove for Yankee Lines out of Akron,Ohio.It has tons of Mack pictures and I hope to post some later on...Jim

Thanks Mike.I fill the filters then pump and it fires right up and runs smooth and has good throttle response.It seems like its running on the fuel I put in the filters then quits.Then I check the filters and they are half full...It makes sense that Im not bleeding it in the right place or bleeding it enough like you said so maybe tonight I can try it again...Jim

Thanks fjh.I will check that out and yes I fill both filters up before pumping.That brings another question about the secondary filter housing...the top cover has a big nut on top with a brass fitting coming out of it and that line goes to the return fitting on the side of the pump...should that nut have a gasket under it?you can pull the nut up against the spring tension and it looks like maybe there was red permatex under the nut but not sure??? Last week it started right up,held good oil pressure and had good throttle response and ran smooth then after a while started to stumble then quit.I figured it picked up some dirt.Sunday I went thru it again and took all the lines on the low side loose and blew thru them,blew from the primary filter back to the tank and could here it bubble,cleaned both filters and refilled with fuel.I expected to find some dirt but filters were clean but 1/2 full and fuel was discolored so it must have pulled from the tank at least a little bit.Anyway pumped it up again and hit the button...she fired right off and ran like before then in a while started to stumble then quit?Im thinking maybe its running on the fuel in the filters and not pulling enough from the tank?with the filters half full maybe I need to keep bleeding the line on top of the filter longer(thats scary,Im answering my own questions)I couldnt find anything that looked like an air bleed.Next time Im going to take the fuel cap off the tank in case vent is clogged?Im going to go thru it again but its been raining so Ive been thinking about what steps to take next!I know we are getting clean fuel,the suction side lines are clear,it must have pulled some fuel from the tank because the fuel in the filter was discolored the first time,I drained and cleaned tanks,I closed the crossover valves to the right tank for now?the primer pump worked but never really got a hard feel out of it,I think I should check for leaks on suction side where it could pull air,should there be a check valve somewhere to keep fuel from running back...looking for ideas...Thanks...thats alot of questions....Jim

Jay... When I was 14-15 we lived on a dead end road with a state park at the end of it and we would take dads B61 and bob tail around the park.For some reason I remember the cab being alot bigger mainly in the steering wheel to belly area,they must have made a larger cab back then because mine seems a little tight!!!!!Yea I know... its all the trucks fault.Anyway I am looking foward to the day we can take her out on the road for a test drive...Jim

I cleaned the primary filter and filled her up,changed the secondary filter,filled her up and pumped like crazy and cracked the return line coming from the injector lines until we had fuel(not sure that was the way to do it).I had my son hit the the big button and she fired right up blowing a huge wasp nest out the stack.I thought that she would run but she started like I had just shut her down last night not 10-12 years ago.Showed 40 lbs at idle but was shooting water out the heater box so I hooked the two hoses together fixing that for now.It didnt show any air pressure but I could hear air leaking and found that the plug was out of the bottom of the air tank.I let her run for a half hour or so and moved her back and forth a few times and Im real happy with the results...She started stumbling a little and then quit,maybe picked up some dirt...anyway,Now that I know she runs I feel a lot better and I can start getting her in shape...Thanks everyone for your help... We dont have a auto parts in town so I stopped at the town garage and the owner said try a Wix #33090 so I will find out wednesday if its right.....Jim
