  1. If you guys are needing any parts for fixing up your old Mack trucks, we've probably got what you're looking for. We've been around for 20 years and deal pretty much entirely in Mack trucks. Literally tons of R-model and CH parts, some old B-model stuff too, way too much to list on here. Just give me a call if you need anything at 352-620-8522 or even just post on here I'll keep an eye on this thread for any questions.

    Thanks!

    - Jordan

need a front driveline section, carrier bearing and mounting bracket and the crossmember its bolted to for a double frame truck.

  2. Come to thank of it that is basicly the same trans as a 8LL without the deep reduction, and yes i do belive you can actually but a 13 speed rear box on that trans and make it a double over because you allready have a overdrive in the main, all you would be doing is addin the overdrive section from a 13 speed on you trans. That is what you split the gears with anyway

Actually if memory serves me right the eaton transmission rear (OD) box is not there to get an OD trans to run double OD its made to fit a NON OD trans there is something about the gear tooth count that wont work on an OD trans, the same with the LOW gear set box for an 8LL and 18/15L etc. the Low gear set box works with the OD trans the OD box works with the direct trans. I cant rmember what it was but Ill do some looking for my old overhaul manuals.

  3. Nevermind, i think i understand it now. I cant get more out of my top gear because its maxed out but if i want to split the other gears to drop down the rpm i can. if i max out 7th gear and want to drop the rpms down a lil lower then i can do that but i cant do the same with my final gear because it doesnt have a gear after that to share i guess. im talking about if i had a 13 speed by the way. hope i didnt confuse you all but i think i finally understand all this now lol

An RTX 9 and an eaton 13spd both have the same top gear ratio, one has .73 in 9th the other has .73 in 13th. I know it can be confusing if you are new to it but it comes with time, the easiest way to get more road speed is taller tires, with an 11R24.5 tire, eaton OD trans(.73OD) and a Mack 4.42 rear you get about 74mph at 1800. I try not to turn my truck that high for extended periods I like the 15 to 1600 rpm range its a lot easier on the engine, I think with your current road speed the best gear ratio for you to try would be 3.86 there are carriers out there with this ratio(I am actually wanting a set now I have 4.64 gears) I know that 4.17 is a good ratio for taller tires like 11r24.5's but sounds like you are running 22.5's with the rpm you are turning. I would ask are you running spoke wheels or budd/disc wheels? if you are running budd wheels a wheel tire swap would be a lot cheaper than a gear swap if you can get a tire shop or other truck owner to give you some money for yours, a set of CRD92/93 chunks with 3.86 gears will be $1500 to $4000 depending on condition. I hope that info helped I have been there before and like I said I want to make a swap now Im just waiting on winter (and more money).

  4. Cool! Thanks for looking for me. Do you have any idea what they cost? As a 14 year old kid, I'm kinda on a 5 dollar an hour budget and I don't think my boss is gonna give me any raises any time soon.... :whistling:

    Ben

I can find out tomorrow if I remember, last set i bought were aluminized 4" for some equipment and I think they were only like $20 a piece the chrome 5's I would guess about $30 a piece not bad considering the amount of metal forming involved.

  5. Thanks all for the comments, I just got done priming the mount for the other side Ill have it painted tonight and be ready to get the other side on tomorrow. I just want to let other Super Liner owners know that the factory y pipe for an E9 is $1300 bucks and there are only 6 in the Mack parts inventory. I found a way to get one made for about $500 and the company has the pattern but they dont stock it so it takes 4 to 6 weeks lead time, I am just making my own exhaust under the truck with 5" elbows and a y looks like its going to cost me about $350 for everything under the truck(we wont discuss the 6" x 96" stacks and 6" elbows).

  6. Hey, it looks like those old stacks had raincaps on them. Do you still have them? I've been looking for some 5 inch raincaps for my pickup truck.

    Ben

I looked it up in my parts books, power products chrome 5" raincap p/n is rc500c, for zinc wash just drop the c at the end of the p/n almost every truck parts place can order their stuff now.

  7. Well you might want t do hat cause it can take up to a month to hear back from them. If you do end up contacting them there service is free of charge but it's nice to give them a donation for all the work they do!

    Tom

I called them a month a go they said it would be a little while they were backed up and doing some moving around, I am not going to complain the last time I got an owners manual, brochure, line sheet and some deler and shipping info.

  8. Yup you need to take some better pic s that truck looks awsome in person , let me know when next weekend all we,ll get the other side knocked out.

I have all the parts to do it all I think I got 3-45's, 1-90, a y pipe and the other wide clamps all I need is a little flex and some band clamps and I guess Ill get that after I get the hard parts mocked up so I dont over buy. I think I can almost do everything with hard pipe I hate having a bunch of flex so I am gonna try to use as little as possible. I got my mower going today and psnet the afternoon mowing the back so I guess Ill get the other bracket done tomorrow and get it painted, I guess I should be able to go up with everything friday afternoon unless I get busy again.

  9. I'm looking for a photo of an "F" model, preferably tandem but I'll take what I can get. It's for a book I've written titled FIFTY YEARS OF TRUCKING FROM FLATHEAD FORD TO LONG NOSE PETE. Actually a lot of it talks about Macks because I worked for 2 Mack dealerships, Calgary and Langley B.C. and owned many Macks and Volvos. If anyone knows where I could find a picture I'd sure appreciate it. Thanks Ted Campbell

well heres a couple, and where might I purchase said book when completed? can I preorder?

  10. I dont know about those fire trucks but remember Mack made fire trucks for a long time I think they stopped in the mid 80's as I recall so those may be Mack bodies as well. I think they used Waterous pumps and the bodies were a joint thing with a builder in the northeast but I cant remember, I have some Mack fire apparatus brochures somewhere but they dont show dual headlights that I remember. I do think that both of those hoods were made with that in mind or at least altered by a professional shop the fiberglass is rolled perfectly into the hole and both sides are symmetrical that rules out back yard body work. I dont know maybe the export hoods with dual lights could be had for the right money here in the states I have seen a lot of dual headlight R's, a lot of them are in the PA and eastern KY region and are just quad light buckets in place of the dual round lights in the same mounting location no body work required. I know FDNY had tons of R's and I have never seen a pic of any with quad lights. The pic of the one above with the sealed turn signals under the headlights seems to have the same dimensions as the Austrailian R model hoods that came with 4 rounds just swapped for two dual light buckets, those trucks had a taller headlight area more squared than the american single light hoods. Just my two cents, I cant say I really like them but I do enjoy seeing something different for a change.

  11. Had a similar problem. 2001 R model E -7 460. Speedometer stopped working, engine power loss, shut down warning. Turned out it was the plug on the ecm behind the steel panel near the passengers feet. I had just moved everything to clean the a/c- heater core. I just cleaned the connections and all was good.

That is actually something I have done to two 2000 RD's, went thru same things on one then found some corrosion on the connector at the ecm on pass side cleaned it and it fixed the issue when the next truck did the same thing I went straight there and never had another issue.

  12. 84, I don't think Uncle Sam can touch your retirement fund, I might be wrong but once you are vested they can't touch that money? If you could can you post some info on what Ryan wants to do, cause I have a Teamster retirement fund commin up in a couple of years, (if I make it) and have been told over the years that it could go down in value (It did) but all the Gov. can do is tax you on your income when you start to receive it

    Thanks

  13. I've been told by my Detroit Diesel Rep. that the Military is still using the 8V-92's in all of there big haul tractors like the Oshkosh with the Allison Trans. I'm told the new ones being built are over 500 Hp. & the reason for them still using this combo ? The parts all interchange and the motor is compact & light. I don't know, what do you guys think ??.

    BULLHUSK

No new military vehicles have Detroit 2 strokes, they have 8v92's in the HET tractor and the HEMMTT trucks but the new HET's have 700hp CAT's and the new Freightliner/Western Star line haul trucks have Detroit series 60's as for Mack trucks in the military there are 0 none in the inventory yet they were bumped due to budget cuts and the only new trucks were the Freightliner line haul trucks with the Wester Star cab. ( I know these things because I have to)
