Thank you very much for posting!

Follow your battery cables. They should lead under the passenger seat and there will be a box that houses the series parallel switch. If that is still there chances are its the original 24 volt start.

Thats a great photo. Thanks for sharing!

SBC conversions were/are pretty popular. I prefer the original engine myself.

Trying to track down some history on my truck. It had Wright & Wishaw Grading Contractors Racine WI painted on the doors. Does anyone know anything about this company? Thanks

You guys out east sure have it good. Finding parts like that in the midwest is nearly impossible.

Thanks for the great story, I enjoyed reading it!!

I hardly think not having maxi's is a make or break deal. I dont work my truck and prefer that it doesnt have them, I guess prefer to have one as original as possible. Kind of goes with the allure of driving a 50yr old truck. I suppose it depends on what you plan to do with the truck, as others said its always possible to upgrade when needed.

Look for one with a nice frame. Over the years so many of these truck get altered from what they originally were for. Frames get chopped, welded, etc. I prefer a single frame as then everything is visible and no hidden rust. Just something to keep in mind.

Recently purchased a 1962 B67 tractor. Way too slow. Is, was, there a ratio near 4.00 available?? THANKS Richard
What ratio do you currently have? My B61 ST has a 5.73 ratio.

Just called my local NAPA and they have the 1233 filters on sale until monday for $23.
-
Thanks everyone for your input. I would like to compile a page with common part numbers for filters and such as Im sure its a question that gets asked many times over.
-
I use Baldwin and Donaldson with out problems. NAPA in a pinch with no problems either .
Any idea what the Donaldson part # is?
-
At least 10 or more years ago according to my MACK parts guru.
One thing to also remember the current filters have a much better filtering medium than the older ones.
I would never use a FRAM FIlter ever. To many problems with their internals, they are not the quality they were even a few years ago.
Would Baldwin be a better choice then the Fram? Dont want to start another filter brand war but would just like to know what common brand people are using?
-
I wouldn't use an old filter. I did that with a years old N.O.S Mack fuel filter a local Mack service shop gave me, fell apart when it got wet!
You make a valid point. I wonder what year production was stopped on the Mack OEM filter?
-
Does anyone still have a surplus of the Mack oil filters for the B series? Mack# 236GB311A
My local dealer has a Fram# C206 in stock and I have also located Baldwin P706M. Just curious if anyone still stocks the OEM Mack filter. Thanks

Do you think the truck was abused at some point or what do you think contributed to the accelerated wear of the lower end?
I asked in another thread how long a thermodyne should last and got the impression that they should last nearly forever if taken care of properly. Obviously they will wear out eventually but your engine seems pretty young yet.
I would be curious to know what was all done on the last overhaul and what brand components were used?

How many miles are on this engine?

Don't want to hijack your thread but quick question... Can main bearings be done without removing crankshaft?

That would be a fun little truck with a cummins 4bt under the hood!

How are the floors? Are they rust free? Which transmission does she have? Looks like a good project. Enjoy
The floor needs attention but thats an easy fix as I have located a couple donor cabs with nice floors. This one has a quadbox, Im still honing my shifting skills with it.

saw that truck for sale. was for sale for a bit. looks like a nice score as others say.
Yea it was listed a couple times. I was surprised no one had bought it sooner. It has the good 673t engine, power steering, added front brakes, etc. Its hard to find a good unmolested B in the Midwest. Most I looked at had been altered with engine swaps, frames cobbled, repaired, and modified. This one seems to be a decent numbers matching original.
