  1. thanks guys. gonna take a closer look and will post findings. i am thinking maybe my wobble/wiggle problem could also be bad kingpins. anybody have a wobble or truck wiggle and find that you had bad kingpins. the wobble feels like as if your driving over pot holes on one side.
  2. yah i have been hunting this for a while. the thing is i dont operate very much at this time because i have another older truck that i am using quite a bit. the mack is my newer truck. i will get under neath and take a peak. my caps do have grease nipples so i take it that there brass. how does one adjust these. i replaced the insulator top and bottom pads on the bad side and a broken leaf on the opposite side. retorque and checked the transverse rod. seems ok. what i have is slight walking on one side front rear axle. i get a truck wobble around 30-40 mph. it seems to smooth out as i increase my speed. if i go downhill and dont give it any throttle truck starts to wobble. thanks for your expertise.
  3. thanks. it is a mack camelback suspension. i believe 10 leafs. where does a person place jacks to check trunion bushing wear?
  4. thanks. is there a way to tell if my rears are 38k by looking? just noticed on my bill of sale that states 44,000lb rear end and 20,000 lb front. so i guess i should have a transverse rod on the 2nd axle also. anybody have an idea where i can get a transverse rod kit if available. thanks again
  5. my 96 mack mr cabover has a wobble issue at around 40 mph. when i increase the throttle it seems to smooth out. i just noticed that my mack has only one transverse rod.(from axle to frame) it is on the rear axle. my question is shouldnt there be one for the front tandem axle? my international has 2 rods. i am thinking maybe thats why i have a wobble. i was told that i can add one to the front axle. does anybody have info on this or a kit. would a worn trunion bushing cause a wobble? thanks gang.
  6. thanks guys. i found one set not opposite each other. think i will give it a try.
  7. yah kind of thought so. do you think it could create a vibration or wobble?
  8. just wandering if anybody can identify with this. is it true that your valve stems should be placed 180 degrees apart? i was told that it could cause a wobble if they are not opposite each other.
  9. i hear you. yah i do have a leak at my rear wheel that is in the process of getting to a shop to get it fixed. just really couldnt understand why oil would come out of the vent also? anyways i try to keep these vents clean. thanks for the info guys. great site.
  10. this seems odd to me. this is not a mack but a international. i developed a wheel seal leak about 3 weeks ago and i am in the process of getting it replaced. but last week i noticed what looks like a fair bit of oil coming out of the vent hole at the top of the housing. what is going on? do you guys think because the wheel seal is leaking it has something to do with it?? thanks
  11. hey gang. i noticed that after i release my parking brake i can hear the dash valve exhausting for what seems like a long time. do you think i have a bad dash valve or qr valve. or is it a brake adjustment that is needed? the brakes seem to release quick though. thanks
  12. thanks guys. i also noticed that when i go to release my park brakes it sounds like it is exhausting for a while. you think maybe a release valve or dash park valve. or maybe just a slack adjuster adjustment. thanks again
  13. thanks again guys. this is a great site
  14. that some good info. thanks guys. i guess i have been pretty damn lucky. so what happened was. when i had the park brake off the chamber was leaking. when i pulled the dash valve the leak would stop. this would mean my emergency side was screwed. so would i plug the service or emergency? sorry for being new to this.
  15. thanks. you know i did not realize that at all. would i have to plug both air lines off the chamber or just the one? thanks for your input it is greatly appreciated!!!!. HAPPY NEW YEAR.
  16. hi. just want to know. what does a guy do if a brake chamber goes out on you when your on the road. this is what happened to me i was cruising along then a heard air passing. noticed my gauge began to drop rather quickly. i stop the truck and noticed one of my rear brake chamber were leaking, at the small hole on the housing. i made it home, but the brakes were dragging somewhat. what do most people do? should i have disconnected the slack adjuster and joined the 2 air lines togeather? thanks
  17. i am talking front spring. thanks though.
  18. thanks. i may just take to someone who has done this before.
  19. i just need to know if i just tap this pin out. no threads just a set screw. also probably wise to replace the spring eye bushing (mack calls it an insulator). it goes into the eye of the front spring and then the pin. any hints on r and r pin and bushing? front driver spring. thanks
  20. any one tell me how tough a job it is to replace the pin on my front spring. pin looks like it is held with a set screw. doesnt look like it threads in. does a guy just tap it out? could a bad pin cause sag? thanks
  21. take the send wire off of sending unit and apply to ground. if gauge moves sending unit is bad, if gauge doesnt move gauge is bad.
  22. thanks guys. yah i realize the safety issue. just wanted to know if anybody has had a wobble develop after a tire was off the bead and reinstalled. thanks again
  23. ok. think i may have fixed a wobble issue i had. transverse rod was loose. anyways one question about a rear tire. the previous owner ran the truck for a few hundred miles with one rear tire flat and off the bead. do you think the tire would be damaged enough to cause a wobble? thanks
  24. thanks everybody. rechecked the u bolts, they were tight. i adjusted my transverse rod and it seems a little better. going to take out another washer and see what happens. i think this is my wobble problem also. the previous owner had the rod replaced, but i dont think the shop had there best working on it. when i got the truck the rod and bolts were new, but very loose. so i am gonna set it up. they used grade 8 washers as spacers and i think there have too many installed.
  25. yes i did have one spring replaced. i will check the torque. thanks again
