  1. Ding,ding......ding,ding,ding...ding...ding,ding.

Exactly my thoughts Ding ding ding tink tink tink . that drives me nuts . Pop had a 72 White Xpeditor tandem lowboy tractor w/ NHC Super 250 Compression release Cummins w/ 4" Exhaust w/ Rain cap that made that noise.

& the 1st thing Moose (driver) did 2 weeks after pop bought the truck was took that straight exhaust tip & rain cap off & walked in the shop & found a chromed turn out & put it on top of the muffler .

a Muffler rusted out on a 1066 Blackstripe IH We had pop put a Cat exhaust pipe off a a 950B Cat loader & a 4" rain cap in it's place that spring . by that summer I went to Memphis & bought a curved turn out pipe & put in it's place & cause I was the 1 that had to operate the 1066 & dirt pan all day listen to that tink tink tink ding ding ding when I had to idle down "Red" for any reason & as a 15 yr old kid I hated rain caps even then .

Id rather hear a 238 Detroit "Lope" than hear a rain cap . hearing a rain cap go tink tink tink ding ding ding is like hearing nails on a chalkboard to me me . <_<

The ONLY Reason id have for a raincap is on a smoker grill cause then it wouldn't tink tink tink ding ding ding . ;)

  2. With a name like Vulva, you don't need a mascot....

    True That !!

    just a set of lips

Use to drive a Pete that had a flying pig on the hood. head would shake. Tied a buddy's at the time gf dog to the back of the pig to make it look like she was getting it on. Needless to say he got no nookie for a week and she is now his wife and have to rugrats. Well not little anymore more like 12 and 10 or something

Ya but even a set a lips I wouldn't touch (Volvo) Ya forgive me I said the 5 Letter Cuss Word some body give me a bar of Lye soap I need my mouth washed out .

A new hood ornament for Vulva COULD be the "Volvo Vulture" ? it fits, especially what they've done with Mack!............................................Mark

    AMEN BROTHER !!

Mark Wins the VULVA Mascot Contest . You hit the nail on the head :clap: Cause thats EXACTLY What they are to the Construction & trucking Industries : VULTURES !!

  4. Everybody in dump trucking here has a triaxle and when I was running mine I pondered a single axle with a tag long and hard. I kept getting calls for 5-10tn and it just never worked out well you ended up in a hole the truck barely fit in and made squat after fuel. I looked at 30-33k gvw international, ford and gmc's, with a 10' bed versus a 16 and a single axle you could get into those back yards with sand, gravel and mulch a lot easier. Take into account the fuel savings running a 6-8liter engine versus a 12-15 liter and you would have the same profit margin if you kept it busy.

My thoughts exactly on the smaller truck . My landlord has a 88'GMC S/A Dump here in the trailer hood he & his son pairs it w/ a 580 Super L & Does quite a bit w/ it around here. I told him id buy the truck if he ever wanted to sell it even though id rather have a diesel it is a 366 gas motor & 5&2 & id run it till I could get a diesel

Don't even get me started on how much cheaper the tags and insurance were!

Oh I know insurance is a bear . pop & myself always complained you could make skip payments in the winter months on equipment & trucks but not insurance .

There is a niche for single axles for smaller loads out there. There is a guy by me from Congers NY area that runs a Pete 330 with a tag and a Midliner CS single axle VPZINC would know him. He runs out of Orangeburg NY out of ORI doing small loads. I need to get some pics of his trucks they are set up real nice.

    Rob

Ya id ilke a truck no bigger than the size of a S/A Dump w/tag s/a w/ a cheater axle here in W.Tn I could legally haul 20 Tons of material like a live tandem .

  5. I Had a Compair Kellogg before they quit making the whole unit (now they just make the compressor & that's it) . & also a Quincy as well . both were great compressors. never been around the smaller service truck IR Compressors so I cant speak of them .

I Ran both daily for 12 to 15 yrs & believe or not a buddy of mine is still using both of them now on his service trucks as I sold them to him 8 yrs ago so he could cut down on service calls when his roll offs blew a tire .

Had Kohler 12.5 hp Motors on both w/175 psi & 30 gal tanks . & they ran all my air tools from air drills, 1/2 ,3/4 & 1" air drills , my air grease pump , & what ever else I had air driven on my 89 F250 Ford service truck @ the time . could blow radiators & filters out w/ease & both never gave a minutes trouble . I had 3/8 & 1/2 hoses on mine .

I Highly recommend Quincy Compressors .

If I had to buy another new compressor for a service truck it would be a Quincy .

  6. SCREW THE WINFALL WIMMIN I WANT THAT WESTERN R-MODEL WRECKER!!!!!!!!! ME SOW HOWNY!!!! ME LUV YOU LONG TIME!!!!!!!!!

Yardo is Liking on the West Coast Bulldog (which all nice & good ) but im liking the Blonde Flagging Traffic !! ;):loldude:

WHERE IN THE HELL WAS THE WOMEN FLAGGERS When I was out there years ago as a 18 to 20 yr old kid having to stop traffic so the dump trucks could get in & out of the dirt pit & getting cussed @ almost ran over & getting the finger ?

Oh Wait that's right 1 of Pops buddy that he sub contracted for had 3 beautiful redhead daughters & they was either operating equipment or driving a lowboy or dump truck . I THINK THEY SHOULD HAD FLAGGING & STOPPING TRAFFIC INSTED OF MYSELF & THIER OLDER BROTHER ;)

I Guarantee those 3 & this blonde in the pic is a lot easier on the eyes & could stop traffic a lot faster than my ugly ass & their brothers grizzly adams looking ugly ass . especially if you put those 3 redheads in a 2 piece bikini w/ a slow/stop sign in there hand . ;):loldude::twothumbsup:

    :mack1:

  7. @ Tom : I was running this idea by N.C. Joe not long ago & I think I've mentioned it to you on the phone as well . & that's my thoughts too . im not out there price gouging folks . I just want to make a decent living w/ a truck of my own again , but I want to make a decent w/ a truck on a smaller scale aka the smaller loads of dirt, mulch, sand, & gravel .

@ BullHusk : I often thought about a F450 OR F550 2YD TO 3rd dumps & wondered it that was too small & need to go to a 5yrd to 10 yd bed w/o going over the 33k GVW Mark .

There is a small concrete co in Memphis they have the 2yd concrete buggies you can rent & haul your mix from their plant or you can have them deliver the same 2 yds in a S/A 4200 International similar to what you are talking about . they have their own niche here in the Memphis area as no one else has that small of a concrete truck . & can go where the big boys cant . as you were talking about .

This where I got my concept of a small dump for the homeowners & DIY Folks that don't need a full 25 ton Tri axle load . As I live North of Memphis & hardly anyone in my area has a s/a dump (with the exception of the 1 co. I mentioned)

    A F450 OR F550 Dump is a idea there . ;)

    Thanks BullHusk . ;)

  8. Good Luck Mark in what ever your decision is . I haven't had a truck of my own in 8 yrs now (though I have always been local except the time I went to pulling FEMA Trailer Frames from 1 Gulf Stream plant to the other after Katrina For another fella that was leased on to a transport co . out of Elkhart ,In a I Drove a T300 KW for them.)

Now im driving a 3/4 TON & 1 TON Truck hauling truck tires for a buddy of mine who used to sell myself & my granddad our truck tires for our Lowboy ,Dump trailer & Dump trucks .

Talk bout a lifestyle change for me. I felt like my pride was shot going from a tandem R Model , DM & Tri Axle Brigadier to a F250 PSD Ford w/ 16' tire trailer & a 3500 Dodge Cummins w/ a 25' tire trailer .

But Even as crazy as it sounds I still have the dream of getting back out on my own w/ my own truck again . But this Time I want a Single Axle Dump to get the small loads nobody wants to haul around here . (Preferably a Single Axle Mack)

I , my dad & granddad (when dad & pop were still living) have had the Tandem & Tri Axles & now it seems like everybody round my neck of the woods wants to cut throat everyone else w/ a Tandem & Tri Axle dump . & that why I want the small truck . I can go where the others cant & have my own niche as most anybody w/ a s/a truck here hauls for themselves or is a local or state govt dump . I only know of 1 s/a dump here that hauls for others & it is in a fleet of tri axle dumps & tandem tractors w/ dump trailers & the s/a rarely see the road .

Good Luck in what ever your decision is my friend & keep us posted .
