  1. In my opinion the negative comments are getting a little much for me too. This happens to be a very nice truck that I have seen in person. Someone has put a lot of time and money into it. For you guys to pick it apart because of its faults and not see the whole package is annoying. It is very easy to play arm chair restorer. Get out your sand blast pot, welder, spray gun etc, and post pictures of your restored truck. Then we can compare your talent and critique your truck against this one. Think the price is too high? The price on trucks is always too high for many on this forum. Many of these trucks do have value significantly higher than what they will bring across the scale. Have you ever searched for a restorable B81? Have you ever done the math on what it would take to make your $2000 truck look like this one? I doubt it. It is much harder and more expensive than many of you think.

    This is a hobby and I understand that you do not restore trucks to turn a profit. You are lucky if you can even break even, and this is without taking into consideration your own labor. You do this because you love it. But this does not mean that a persons restored project does not have value.

    I have always tried to add to this forum when I had something to offer. I have also gotten a ton of great information as well. I will talk about Mack trucks all day long, but bashing anyones truck because of some minor imperfections on a public forum is something that I will not do.

  2. The "L" in the serial is for lightweight version with various components made of aluminum . All seem to be set up different, on B models I have seen bumpers, spring hangers , transmission-differential housings, flywheel housings, brake shoes and spiders,intakes, fuel & air tanks, hubs, and hoods.

    I agree with you, they all seem to be set up differently. Each individual aluminum part must have been an option.

  3. We had an 86 Rd with a 350 tip turban 2valve. I also have a 86 R611T with a 250 2 valve. I think there was definately some overlap in the ending of 2valve and 4 valve. There was also overlap in the use of front mount intercooler and tip turban usage on 2 valves.

  4. I have a T2090 in my '87 Superliner,4:17 rears,lo pro 24.5's which would be the same as 11R22.5 ,never had any problems pulling loads out of farm fields or muddy lots.Gives you nice road speed too.A T2090 has a .71 overdrive,where a T2100 is .77 and a TRTXL1070a 12 speed is .78

    I have to agree. Have driven plenty of miles with 4.17s 11r22.5 rubber and 2090 pulling dump trailer on and off road. I felt that low was low enough for a tractor that isnt climbing out of basements, and would do 75 mph comfortably.
