  1. Thanks Steve, I was thinking of taking it to my favourite shop which happens to be six hundred miles from me. That is why i wanted to do a quick repair here at home then do a professional job at my favourite Mack shop. tks
  2. Hello all , is it possible or reccomended practice to replace only one broken exhaust manifold bolt on an ASERT 427. I have a broken bolt on the upper left side of the turbo. It seems we may be able to extract it without tearing out the manifold. Just wondering if i should replace all the bolts. tks
  3. oh and the american taxpayer will install these on board recorders free of charge to our brothers south of the border whereas us american truckers will be expected to fork over $3000 or more for the privilege of monitoring ourselves. well maybe $5 fuel will keep them south for a while. i wonder will they be driving MACKS, maybe mackpro68 will have to take a crash course in spanish. i have him nearly trained in gaelic already. a quick learner...
  4. sorry about that news bigen, if i know of anyone i will send them your way. hope things get better for you and your family.
  5. not i rob im in ga but it sure sounded like a disgruntled employee god bless him. i run 48 states with my mack and it sure gets lonesome out west where you could go all day without seeing another mack. its a real shame because these trucks ride well, are well built, great visibility and just a solid truck. now if only i could get mackpro68 to team and to bring his toolbox we would be set. now there's an original thought...
  6. well i limped into mackpro68 with my egr clogged and other such unmentionables. i cannot praise this shop enough and a special shoutout for mackpro68. i have been to my local mack shop with various problems oh an amber flashing light for instance to be told oh that happens to them all its no problem. i visited another huge volvo mack shop who did find my problem but proceeded to violate and pillage me with the quote for parts and over $100 hr for labour. i declined and slowly made my way to mackpro68 where they fixed my problems with no fuss or pillaging. it would want to make one move back to the country and leave these city slickers and hustlers to their tricks. The quality of dealers seems to be a huge problem in the mack world. one would have hoped that volvo would have paid attention to this but i guess there is more money in volvos. i know there are quality mack shops around but from my experience here in the southeast they are pretty lame. sorry if this is the wrong forum to post this vent. i am truck trucking again until later.
  7. welcome ac i too have a 427 ac vision otr truck. you are right about the fuel milage. it does suck fuel now. i have started using syn oil 5w-40 i am hoping to get 50000mls between svc. i use my local mack for svc but they dont even stock mudflaps so that gives you an idea. i must say though they do have an extremely helpful svc dept. im hoping syn oil will give me a little better fuel milage. i am replacing my drives with low rolling resistance tyres. bf goodrich at loves 1200 for four installed. like you i am waiting to trade up to a more fuel efficient truck maybe an mp8 motor which i am told will get 8mpg in our dry van operation. hey people tell me everything. i do love the ride, ergonomics and visibility of the vision though. i have a 13 speed on this trk which i find a new learning experience to say the least. i came out of a freightliner century which i had for seven years it had 7.26 mpg on the ecm i was spoiled to say the least but the truck just was horrible to drive and just disintegrated around me. night and day difference to the vision. just my 10 cents worth here hope this helps. oh as for power there are guys working on a black box to help increase hp check out pittsburg power in saxonburg pa these guys are into power and fuel milage. ok happy trails.
  8. a pic of my puppy on the west side of yellowstone national. i was deadheading from bozeman mt to idaho falls id. really pretty country puppy was getting exicited with the big hills !!
  9. hi bigen i have been reading your posts for some time and agree with you on the giant corp ruining fine companies for asset stripping. i am in your neck of the woods tonight after del here in fulton mo i pu mon am in lemay mo south of st louis. heavy lds and lowish rates the order of the day my friend. this van freight can be sucky at times. but my puppy nack just runs fine so far . oh i did an alingment on it. i saw where a guy said to put a three leaf spring on front axle. i wonder. hope you get out of nd im sure you will.
  10. well guys i have been in my 05 vision now for 4 months and it is just the best truck i have driven. i saw a canadian 09 ch rawhide team in il last week and they were complaining about fuel mileage. 5.6 it was a 485 with 13 speed. it was one sharp looking truck though. my little vision was puny alongside it. still my mileage is creeping up to around 6.5 now so better i guess. now if i could get back to base and get my new roof a/c compressor replaced things would be dandy. i refuse to idle unless i have to. safe one yall
  11. well wasn't that pretty badly designed there mr mack. i finally got the filter out and it was nasty. maybe if the engineers designed it a little better it may be cleaned more often. just a thought. anyway many thanks to forum for the info.
  12. many thanks guys for the info. i had better get the screwdriver out.
  13. well that time of year again here in sunny ga. i got my a/c checked out at dealer shop on my 05 vision and they repaired an a/c leak. well just turned on a/c today and a ?. where is the a/c filter on this vision. i had a looksee under and over but it beats me. i may have to go back to dealer to see if they can pump up the cold a bit it is pretty weak. also do you have a problem keeping the vent lever turned to recirculating position. it keeps wanting to come back to fresh. a screw is needed methinks. good news i got 6.88 mpg out of her this week. ok light loads but its a start. tks

hi boyko i have a cxn613 13 spd and 3.86 rears with an AC427 hp motor tractor otr with a 53 van. not the best fuel mileage from this yet, i get approx 6mpg average for the month. i do notice mpg has risen with outside temp rise. i usually drive about 63 mph. i will be interested to see what the pros say about mpg here as i feel this is an area that will be more relevant in the coming months. This also has a bearing on mack otr sales. i wonder how is the 2010 pinnacle doing mpg wise??. By the way i love my mack it is so much more solid than my old century, no comparison.
  15. hi bigen i have been following your posts, hope 2010 brings less headaches. i had a 97 century 12.7 giving by the ecm 7.25 mpg great engine but the truck slowly demolished around the engine. time to upgrade. it is a pity that 8 yrs later and new egr regs that these trucks are struggling with mpg. a big step backward for sure. i love the mack look and already feel the rugged quality that these trucks are known for. i pull dry van mainly east of i-35 so i probably will not see the rockies for a while. i have a very nice lady with mack trying to find a soultion for me regards mpg and gear ratios. this should be very interesting. i will keep an eye on here for some creative solutions.
  16. hi guys well i made the jump and bought an 05 cxn 613 427hp 13 sp with 3.86 rears. one problem i see already is fuel mpg. running around 5.8mpg. this will be an over the road tractor so i wonder if i changed to 3.55 rears what would that do for me? great forum by the way.
