  1. They are good if you are the first owner of the unit with an M drive/I shift. The warranty covers any issues you may have in a reasonable life cycle.  Unfortunately they also bring your resale value down on trade in.

Replacing or repairing this transmission is very expensive and must be done at the dealer for reprogram during reinstall of trans unit.

Good deal if you are the original owner, not so good deal for the second owner.  I've seen lots of those pulled out and on the shop floor after about 1,000,000 kms here in Canada.

By the way....as a tech I see more automated trannies being pulled out of trucks then we have ever had to pull manual transmissions out of trucks for internal transmission related failures. (Not including clutch failures)

  2. Grill name positioning was an option and also depended on weather it had a grill gaurd or not. It was originally built on the RD frame as mentioned before and was only available in set forward axle till 2004/5 if I'm not mistaken. It was not a big seller here because of the front axle loading/spread issues in Ontario.

  3. We actually broke the news here before it reached Hanks. It was a thread in Dec of last year.

I was sent this by mistake. The guy that took the picture works at Sharky and got in crap for it. Same can shell. No roof in cab interior. New bunk.

MACK big wigs were filling us in on the test truck last year at the Canadian show that most of the fleet customers were ok with the cab size and wanted a face lift and bunk/cab revamp.

Will be released to sales team in fall and to market new year. Notice how Macungie is off limits this year for the show in 3 weeks.....hmmmmmm lol.

  4. Worked at a fleet that had a dozen CS units. We had a freedom demo and wasn't impressed. Owner didn't like cabovers. We didn't like all of the extra technology on the freedom. We ordered more CS units just before they were discontinued and the freedom was the only frog dog available. We had really good luck with Midliners. The technology was what killed the freedom series. No one could fix them.

  5. I'm hoping the market share on the highway side will increase with the new truck being released end of this year. I've seen some pictures of a test unit. It has the improvements I am  looking for. Hopefully the pictures I've seen are correct. Same cab. I'm happy with the current cab just needs minor tweaking. Bunk is new and so is front end. Here's hoping.

What have the issues been with the twin Y?  I have 200 000 miles on mine.  It rides decent and my tires are wearing perfectly.

Y arm issues. Cracking and breaking. The heavier the axle loading and doing lots of twists and turns the worse it gets. Good to hear yours are doing well.

  7. I've heard that the plant will not be open for tours this year.  They say it's due to construction but the timing also fits that the new Mack Highway truck being unveiled to sales forces in the 3rd 1/4 of 2017 may be in the building at the time.

The museum will be open with the ability to drive over to visit and no busing available from the show grounds.

    Still worth the trip south.

Only the single axles we got in 2012, everything since is either tandem with dummy axle or full twin screws with mp8's and the mdrive.

Not here.  The single drive with dummy axle has MP7 405SE

Have yet to see any MP8 powered UPS tractor in for dealer work yet.

Havn't seen any twin drives up here yet either.
