  1. This was the Mack East Coast factory demonstrator and I believe the one used for some of the R model pumper brochure pics. It is an R611F, third one built. I also have one of the StL City R608F’s, 6th one built, with the 707C gas engine. It runs and drives but has issues. The cab and chassis are perfect. The pump body has cabinet rot but the R611F is immaculate all over. We have lettered the R611F as StL City Pumper 32, the original identity of my R608F.
  2. No, it was a powder and aggregate tractor for a ready mix company in Chicago. We reworked it into a St Louis City Fire Dept theme to match the StL City R model pumper it hauls to shows.
  3. That’s about 4 weeks ago. One of my 2 matched 89’s. I put a matching upholstery buddy seat in too right after that photo.
  4. I’m selling those. I still have some set aside for me. I have that and other things on rubberducktruck.com under the Dan’s Attic tab there.
  5. Jeff, I have some NOS 20 inch VIP steering wheels with the Mack base and Mack horn button medallion. They are Mack parts supplied by VIP. These are 20” though and not the smaller 18”. I have one in one of my ‘89 R688ST’s.
  6. I am the second owner. It was originally used to pull powder and end dump trailers for a ready mix company in Chicago. I bought 3 of their 4 R models when they retired them. I reworked this one into a St. Louis Fire Dept theme styled like their 1968 Mack R model pumpers. This truck pulls one of the R model pumpers to shows.
  7. Didn't find anything on a search. I have a 1989 R688ST with a FAW5371 12k steer axle. I need to redo the wheel ends. I know the outer bearing is a 45280. Does anyone have the inner and outer bearing and race numbers handy? Also interested in a wheel seal number and a spindle nut number. Some jackwagon used a chisel before.
  8. I have a handful of new old stock Mack / Donaldson 13" diameter air cleaners. They have 6" inlet and 6" outlet.Mack's original number was 2MD4140. The updated number is 25166123. These include the filter element. They are in black primer, never installed. They do not include the straps. Pics are available on rubberducktruck.com if interested.
  9. BCR’s also stand out because they typically lacked the R model battery boxes behind the front fenders and often retained the B fuel tanks. My ‘67 R611F (1003)and my ‘68 R608F (1006) both have the very small radiator with the side extension panels that look like closed shutters. My ‘89 R688ST tractor of course has the full radiator/ATAAC setup.
  10. When I had the loose ball on the pitman arm, I also had a drag link that had the ball cap broken into multiple pieces. I had to order an incorrect PAI drag link to get the internal guts I needed.
  11. The part I used was a 9QC3220P2. It has a bit more of an angle outward but connected right in and works like a champ. Completely interchangeable with 11R22.5 steer tires. Can’t say if it works on larger/wider tires. The part was $497.
  12. I’m here. I just get caught up with life and trucks and forget to log in. Glad to see the book getting some attention.
  13. Could any fine member on here point me towards the part numbers and a source for the pitman arm and drag link on a 1989 Mack R688ST? Drag link is 15” long center to center. Pitman arm is 9” center to center. I have a bad feeling I already know the answer.
  14. So very very sad. Mike is a legend.
  15. Here’s a partial scan of the first 20+ pages of the 342 pages. I can look up something if needed. 982381310_MackR600SeriesCollisionRepairBookRev1991.pdf
  16. Here’s the RW book for your enjoyment. 1215136115_MackRWSeriesCollisionRepairBook1978.pdf

  18. The RB, RD and DM all used variations of the same cab architecture and were produced until ‘04-‘05. The DM stopped in ‘04, the RD stopped shortly after in late ‘04 and the RB stopped in ‘05. Late production numbers were very low. Of course, things between models were different with cab cowls, door skins (DM) and other sheet metal on the DM to accommodate the offset. Dash panels, door guts and other things were common though. Most of the parts are no longer available from Mack in my experience. Dash boards and switches were updated across the RD, RB and DM in March 2001 for ‘02 and up models. This included stainless bezels on all gauges, new gauge faces, all new switch hardware and layouts and other things. I always use my former ‘02 RD 690 VIN last six was 033790 as a parts reference. I custom ordered it and it was built April ‘01. It had every gauge and the ultra rare level 4 black interior.
  19. I’m a picky bas**** and really want something as close to how this came as possible. I can absolutely polish and save the muffler but the elbow is a bit too damaged for my taste. I’d prefer the new muffler. I was shocked when Watt’s didn’t still show the shiny muffler in the b model shop. I did buy the 5” muffler on Iowa80 for the Rubber Duck Western Star and it is perfect. Want to stick with 4” on this puppy.
  20. They used to be listed under B model parts but not any more.
  21. Is the 8.5” diameter chrome muffler with 4” inlet/outlet still available anywhere? Also, trying to source a chrome R model elbow.
  22. Move this ‘87 R686ST from the Chicago R model category to the St Louis R model category. Former T&W/Naperville Ready Mix tractor #423. 300/air 6 and getting ready to undergo some restoration work.
