Not sure about the RL 700L emblems on the hood however..... Maybe just me but I was thinking those were RW series trucks and since I've lost my all my marbles, I could be wrong.
Nice truck and you have every right to be very proud of it.
Rob, To me that's what a truck paint job should look like. They looked like that new. As for the RL signs I thought it would look cool. Lol; RL, RWL; Its close enough!

I told him I think I new the truck and it was a v8 and there is no better sounding truck. And looks very good.
I have people say that to me all the time. One guy that works for the one of companies I deliver asphalt to swore up and down there was something wrong with it till I told him what it was. Others think Life Star is on the way!

I'm trying to locate an old Bruckner Mack Dealer emblem like that would have been put on a new truck when sold. It seems like I've seen some in the past some where on trucks. I recently found out thats where my 1980 Superliner came from when it was sold new. Thanks, Josh

Cat and Cummins was still mechanical. No Detroit in the last years of RW production. An ex Mack engineering friend of mine tells me there was a test RW fitted with a series 60 Detroit that never made production. The 60 series offering ended up with the release of the CL instead in 93.
I'm not a big Detroit fan but 60 series aren't a bad engine. It would be kind of cool to see one in a newer Superdog. Hmmm That give me ideas for another project LOL!

I wondered who got that one. Glad it got a good home. If if turns out as nice as your other bulldogs it will be a sweetheart for sure! Hell New Castle isn't to far from me. Deffinently need to keep use posted on that build. Did you get your KTTA Superliner repainted yet?

Does any body know what ever happened to it or ended up getting it? It sat in Butler, Pa on 422 for sale for a short time for sale after it was in Mercer, Pa at the auction place then I lost all tabs on it. Just curious.

I'll have to check that out on my Brother U795. Most the 865/866 engines had 27 degrees injection timing but his has a factory setting of 31 degrees injection timing and man can you tell.That thing is like a fire ball! I know the in one of our overhaul manuals is shows that a limited number of 865s had the 31 degrees timing but only in the first few years. Josh

Your in the right place. I had the same problem when I was looking for my numbers. I had to get the sand paper after it. There not stamped real deep and can be hard to read sometime.

Ok I found it. According to the list I have from Mack, they only made 2 RWL736s and 4 RWS736s between 1979 and 1980.

The engine serial number should be on the passenger side of the engine on the oil pan rail. You will see a flat area. I would have to agree with 41Chevy, I think the number built is wrong. The timeline with the engine build dates just doesn't line up. Aside from a few differences they are pretty much identical to an E9.
I got it started last night. Ill try to post a video.
That would be cool to put in a 1976 R700 or just keep as a display engine. I've only ever seen a hand full of 1000/1005s. The build numbers I have for the trucks which had them were all very low so the numbers might be right. I know that Mack only made 8 R735s with the 1005s and 9 F735s with the 1005s. I have the build numbers for the RWS/RWL 736 Superliners here somewhere. Give me a minute to find them.

The one in my 1980 RWS721LST Superliner tri axle is an ETCZB1000. My engine tag is gone as well but I got this off the right front pan rail. An interesting thing on mine is that it has a the number 142(I think off the to of my head) welded to the block in about 3 inch numbers above the starter. The engine has never been out of the frame. The truck only had 52,000 original miles on it when I bought it. I've never seen such a thing on a E9. Also my injector lines are routed completely different than an E9. Mine has never been painted. It has the original red orange engine paint that Mack used in 1980. The history of these engines in the early days is fascinating to me. I have a picture of a R735S tri axle dump that my Dad looked at buying in the 80's. It was a test truck with the ET1005 in it with a 6 spd tranny. Also there is a cement plant in Meadville, Pa near me that had one that was tri axle dump as well. Both of these did not have air coolers.

Ok that makes sence. I looked through and could only find a picture of the other one but I know I have a Picture of the one with the V8. You don't happen to know what the vin was on the V8 truck would you. I'm assuming its RS735...

Not to sound stupid but you did put the gear shift in one of the 1-5 gear holes with it in reverse right? I have an air line diagram for a 1070B I could scan.
